Its heart unquestionably in the right place, ‘Jolly LLB’ is very watchable, even if it does paint in broad strokes. I’m going with two-and-a-half out of five. Not a bad way to spend an evening.

It’s light and easy, and not hard to like. Just don’t expect much more.

Despite its many indulgences ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ is ultimately an engaging watch. I’m going with three out of five for this fascinating tale of ambition and emotions that might have further benefited from tighter writing.

The film, ultimately, rushes towards its hasty, unpredictable resolution that feels unconventional merely for the sake of it. I’m going with two out of five for ‘I, Me Aur Main’. At less than two hours, it’s hardly a slog. But you can’t help feeling like real potential was squandered.

It’s only February, but one of the year’s best films has arrived.

Murder 3 is a more or less faithful copy of the Colombian thriller The Hidden Face, whose remake rights the Bhatts legally acquired. That, you see, is a big improvement from all those years of cheerfully ripping off Hollywood and Asian films without so much as a by your leave.

At 2 hours and 20 minutes, ‘ABCD’ is too long. There’s some genuinely original choreography up there, but it’s lost in a plodding film with characters you couldn’t care about.
