• It has its shares of flaws and lows, but Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain is still a must-see film for the courage of its conviction, if for nothing else.

  • This film has been in the cans for several years, but given the timelessness of the story it tells and the crucial issues it addresses, it has lost none of its relevance.

Rang Rasiya is as good a film as any you have, or will, see this year. Strongly recommended.

  • Mardaani is obviously Rani Mukerji’s film and she dominates the show all the way through. But a few of the other actors, too, are given enough space to make a mark. Because Shivani Shivaji Roy is not your average action ‘hero’, she might not appeal to Dabangg junkies. But for everyone else, Mardaani could be well worth a trip to the multiplex.

  • Katiyabaaz is both entertaining and unflinching in its depiction of an India that lags light years behind the rest of the civilised world but isn’t willing to give up without a fight.
This powerful little film is a must watch.

  • Bobby Jasoos has no item numbers, no cheap thrills, and none of the usual trappings of a wannabe blockbuster.

But it has Vidya Balan in fine fettle, and that should be reason enough for you to go out and watch the film.

  • CityLights isn’t a feel-good entertainer. It is a film that shocks, provokes and seeks to prick our collective complacency and apathy. That obviously adds up to infinitely more value than the price of a multiplex ticket.

  • Don’t expect cheap thrills from Hawaa Hawaai. It proffers none. But if it is genuine entertainment that you are looking for, your search ends here.

  • A Kangana Ranaut film seems to be increasingly acquiring the proportions of a genre unto itself.

It needs neither saleable male co-stars nor the tried-and-tested conventions of Bollywood blockbusters.

Revolver Rani may lack star power, but it has no dearth of firepower.

  • Bewakoofiyaan scores with its disarming simplicity. Even as it doesn’t soar to dizzying heights, it is never less than watchable.

  • Don’t miss Queen for anything. It is a sparkling little gem. Both the actress and the director use that element of gaucherie in the character to great effect, crafting a believable and adorable heroine who evokes both empathy and enchantment.
