• Bang Bang is strictly for Hrithik Roshan fans and for those that do not want an action flick to be anything more than just that.

  • Khoobsurat is a pretty good show. It is both funny and flashy, but its many flourishes are delivered in measures that religiously avoid excess.

  • The question is: should you watch Mary Kom? You should, the simple reason being that we owe it to the pugilist who has gone where few Indians have ever gone – to the pinnacle of her sport – and stayed there long enough not to be remembered as a flash in the pan.

  • What Raja Natwarlal lacks is authentic humour and genuine sparks of inspiration. As a result, despite the consistently retrained acting all around, it fails to be anything more than desultory.

  • Mardaani is obviously Rani Mukerji’s film and she dominates the show all the way through. But a few of the other actors, too, are given enough space to make a mark. Because Shivani Shivaji Roy is not your average action ‘hero’, she might not appeal to Dabangg junkies. But for everyone else, Mardaani could be well worth a trip to the multiplex.

  • Katiyabaaz is both entertaining and unflinching in its depiction of an India that lags light years behind the rest of the civilised world but isn’t willing to give up without a fight.
This powerful little film is a must watch.

  • Singham Returns has a fair sprinkling of angry wisecracks that might draw spontaneous whistles and loud claps from those that love violent fights to the finish.

One can only hope that this is indeed the end, and another sequel isn’t lurking in the future.

  • If this is entertainment, what, pray, is torture? Run for cover.

The dog scores over the rest of the cast because the animal does not have any dialogue to deliver nor any song to swing to.

  • Kick provides a kick only sporadically. For Salman Khan fans, that should be good enough.

  • To be fair, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania does have some warm passages. But the overall package that it adds up to is about as appetizing as a bottle of beer gone flat.

Recommended only for Bollywood junkies that love their froth served in receptacles that have no depth.
