2.0If this is entertainment, what, pray, is torture? Run for cover. The dog scores over the rest of the cast because the animal does not have any dialogue to deliver nor any song to swing to.

It's sheer genius and Akshay's funniest film since Hera Pheri... All of this hard work in writing would have been futile had the film been tackily shot, just like the films it parodies. Surprisingly, Entertainment is technically great, even the scene transitions are well done.

6.0Akshay Kumar is in top form. Having done a multitude of masala movies, he's become a khiladi. His bonding with the dog (especially in comic scenes) has those 'oh-so-cute' moments. The golden retriever is not a wonderful actor; but his eyes can melt your heart.

But it turns out that I'm born with a brain, and what it does during a movie is beyond my control, unless I physically remove it. This can only happen if I'm a cartoon character, or part of the absurd world of Entertainment (the business).

5.0Akshay's comic timing stands out. Tamannaah has improved a little in acting skills. Krushna's dialogues won our hearts. Mithun just played his part as a greedy father. Entertainment (dog) gathered all the attention. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood added more entertainment in the movie. All in all, the movie is entertaining and a one time watch comedy.

3.0This movie doesn't require a lot of thought process. You can leave your brain at home and enjoy a mindless comedy with the standard lines. If you are fond of canines, then watch the dog try to do his thing. On the whole, a family entertainer with terrible music. A decent attempt but it fails to make the grade. Watch the movie with your little ones (the human kind, don't know if they allow dogs in the theatre).

2.0Entertainment is a painful exercise to sit through and when a cute retriever with all the fuzziness cannot retrieve you from boredom, blame it on the film. Akshay Kumar was almost as bad as his Once Upon Aye Time In Mumbaai Dobaara performance, and that says it all I am sure. I am going with a very kind 1/5 for the film and it's a gift from a dog lover to all the dogs who appeared in the film. As for the rest of the Entertainment team, filmmaking isn't as trivial as they think it is. Slog for it in their next film and probably then there will be some stars for them. As an afterthought, my fraternity will agree, we live a dog's life tormented by films like this.

2.0As filmmakers, they've managed to achieve the near impossible— managed to make Sajid Khan's slapstick Humshakals look great in comparison. As if unsure of their movie's intent, they've even titled it Entertainment. I'm sorry, but if this is entertainment, then I want to know what's the word for a person banging his head against the wall for over two hours, having shelled out money to do that as well? No, don't answer that.

On the whole, Entertainment is an entertaining fare but with sectional appeal only. Its ridiculous story-line is a major drawback and will make its appeal restricted. It will be enjoyed by the masses, families and kids. Although it will keep the target audience in splits, its business will be less than its merits because it has just a week-long window, what with eagerly awaited Singham Returns scheduled for release next week. The producers may have made their profit but some of the distributors, particularly those who have paid heavy prices, will not be as lucky.

There is endless punning, a play on the names of actors (example: "I Rajini-can't believe it") and iconic Hindi movies, SMS forward-worthy jokes and the idea that a dog can get the better of humans. Junior's bored expression and lack of affection towards the two-legged creatures on the set is glaringly evident, but the rest of the cast has far more energy, sportingly submitting themselves to the pratfalls aimed at knee-high viewers and going along with the occasionally madcap plot twists.

Entertainment, a slapstick comedy by Sajid – Farhad, turns out to be a light entertainer. I could hear people bursting out into laughter inside the theatre and kept on wondering why the movie didn't excite me enough. In spite of my personal dislike for this genre, let me put across my review without any bias. Can't deny the fact that the movie's tone is very light. The titular character of the movie is Entertainment – a dog which was named so since he was the only source of entertainment for his rich-but-lonely master. The title is even justified by one-liners having mention of the Bollywood Personalities, Bollywood Movies' names and Television Serials / Personalities. Digs at various TV shows viz. Teleshopping, Weight Reduction Capsules, Serials with Family Melodrama are also taken. Emotional connect between human beings and pets, the need to take care of the pets, possessing the virtues of the pets viz. loyalty and courage are also projected. Logic, no room for the same in this movie since this is how, it is meant to be – Mindless Entertainment. This is definitely very much unlike the whole slew of comedy films which we have seen in the recent past. You may enjoy watching this movie, if you like comedy movies. The movie begins with Riteish Deshmukh as a host of TV show which is into teleshopping of Jagtap Capsules for miraculous weight reduction and showcases one of the beneficiary as Akhil Lokhande (Akshay Kumar). Akhil is working extra hours / odd jobs viz. dancing, modelling, umpire for local cricket competition etc. and leaves no stones unturned for earning more so as to take care of his ailing father (Darshan Jariwala) who is hospitalized since one year. Jugnoo (Krushna Abhishek), Akhil's friend, runs DVD parlour "Mere Paas CineMAA Hai" and he speaks dialogues with inane cross-references to Bollywood movie names, personalities. Jugnoo is completely filmy. Akhil's romantic interest is soap-opera actress Sakshi (Tamannaah Bhatia). Sakshi's stingy and greedy father (Mithun Chakraborty) challenges Akhil and tells him to earn atleast a crore to get Sakshi in his life. Akhil learns that his biological father is Bangkok Diamond King Pannalal Johri (Dalip Tahil), multi-billionaire. The happiness factor hasn't even sinked in that a TV news flashes in regard to Pannalal's death. Akhil flies to Bangkok for funeral and to claim the property. But his dreams get shattered, when he gets further shock from Pannalal's Urdu-spouting Manager Habibullah (Johny Lever) that the whole property has been inherited by Entertainment (Junior - a pet dog). An envious and agonized Akhil decides to stay back and compete with the dog to inherit 3000 crores. Akhil along with Jugnoo employs all sorts of wiles to keep Entertainment, the dog, at bay.
