• URI: THE SURGICAL STRIKE is the first great action movie by Bollywood this year. Stylish guns, cool explosions and a clapworthy execution make this film truly epic by all standards. Vicky Kaushal, please do more such action movies in the future. You’ve earned a sincere fan.

If you’re an action buff or/and a viewer who likes real-event movies, this one is a must watch. URI is handled well by Aditya Dhar who balances action and emotion very well. Don’t mistake it for a war movie. It’s about a surgical strike, which means a military attack carried out with the intention of damaging only a legitimate military target and to prevent a full-blown war.

Action is the best thing about the film. If you’re a PUBG fan, the nonstop action will definitely impress you. While most of the action involves guns, some fight sequences involving fists will also make a crunchy impact. The director has tried to avoid gore for a major part and thus it’s low even in the few parts where it’s present.

All actors impressed big time. Vicky Kaushal finally did an action movie and didn’t disappoint. Paresh Rawal’s neat performance is praiseworthy. Yami Gautam and Kirti Kulhari also shine in their strongly written roles. Mohit Raina makes his presence felt. Music, dialogues and cinematography are all top notch.

It was after a long time that the multiplex audience cheered throughout and clapped at the end of a movie. I’m one of them too.

  • I love watching films that come out with a social message. I also like thrillers with a good locational setting and a type of music which gives the feel of an urban, modern, stylish thriller. BLOOD MONEY is one of those films. Despite of the very fact that many critics panned it for being repetitive, I liked it very much.

BLOOD MONEY teaches us a lot from various of its characters and scenes. The film being the story of a common man appeals and connects with everyone. This is a film which can teach a lot even to the youth. Besides, the story and screenplay are both excellent, well packaged and paced with lots of thrills that keep you to the edge of your seat. There’s hardly a single dull moment throughout the entire film.

Kunal Kemmu gives a very controlled, enthusiastic, powerful performance and proves that he’s a star-level actor. He’s the best man in the entire film. Amrita Puri too acts as per her role, but at various places seems to go a little overboard and dramatic during dialogue delivery. Manish Chaudhary steals the show as the villain who has perfect lines to speak. Other actors like Teeshay etc too keep us engaged.

The best part of the film is its music: every song is a gem and you can’t resist listening it again and again. That’s also the biggest plus point. The locations and cinematography are both worth watching out for. The dialogues are another major strength, as they project the correct situation of the present day society and the characters. The fight sequences are well executed and filmed with excellence. The visual work is also top notch. Also, the film doesn’t deviate from the story telling. The editor has done a great job by keeping an engaging runtime of 1 hour and 49 minutes.

Overall, BLOOD MONEY is a film definitely worth your time and money, apart from your love. This is a film which can also be an eye opener for the society. A must watch!

  • Movie: Spider-Man Homecoming (UA)

    Rating: 4.5/5

I know you won’t believe me, but I seriously don’t watch Hollywood films. The only Hollywood films I’ve seen include STRAW DOGS (2011) and first three films of the SPIDER-MAN series. Spider-Man has been my childhood favourite since long. I always wanted to catch one of films on thrilling night screen. And I got this opportunity a few weeks ago. I never imagined it could see it in 3D. This was my first experience and I seriously loved it! Plus, Tiger Shroff’s Hindi dubbing for Spidey too added to the fun.

Synopsis wise, it might look like a simple Spidey flick but don’t think that it’s an ordinary one. The story and screenplay are both watertight and fully engaging. It doesn’t have any such flaws you can dig out easily. Besides, who would like to find flaws when our superhero wants to entertain us?

Entertainment is present fully throughout the film. Those who’ve loved Spider-Man, should never afford to miss this film. Technically, this film is a masterpiece and there are no noticeable glitches at all. This film intends to entertain as well as deliver a good social message. What’s that? Watch it soon to find out.

The action scenes of the film are a major plus and look even better in 3D. The background score of the film is excellent and elevates the viewing experience. The editing is perfect as there are no unnecessary or boring sequences. Each and every scene is a masterpiece. This is seriously the best Spidey film I’ve seen till date.

Tom Holland as Spider-Man is very impressive and is even better than the previous actors who portrayed Spider-Man. It never actually mattered to me who actually played the character because the character Spider-Man is more important to us than Peter Parker (usually). Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, the Iron Man is excellent. Other actors too are excellent.

The film also has a good dose of humour, largely natural, and keeps us entertained. I was surprised to see how the director has also made the film suit to Indian audiences in an amazing way. The Hindi dubbing excellent. Kids and families can watch this film definitely.

Having said that, SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING is a must see for any Spider-Man fan and also for those who want visually engaging, endless action-packed entertainment. And for the best experience, watch it in 3D, as it looks even better in that format. Highly recommended!

  • John Abraham is the actor who says he loves to do action films as this is his favourite genre. Same with me, action is my favourite and this compelled me to watch the much awaited action film ROCKY HANDSOME, in which John Abraham proves that even Indian cinema can have world class action. The film, to put simply, is a heart warming entertainer with emotions, and showcases the ultimate fighting skills of John.

A remake of the Korean film The Man From Nowhere (Ajeossi), ROCKY HANDSOME stands at par with the original, in terms of action. I have seen Ajeossi which too was excellent. ROCKY HANDSOME does have stylized violent action but not as gory as Ajeossi. It has clean entertainment with execution that keeps the film alive and the viewer awake. Every single frame is shot very well. Not just does it stay true to the original, but even turns out to be better than the original in certain aspects.

John Abraham gives a very controlled, enthusiastic and energetic performance. He’s the main guy who drives the film and the action. The way he handles the knife to fight is simply the best thing. Nishikant Kamat’s performance as Kevin is convincing, although he went a little overboard while laughing in a scene. Diya Chalwad as Naomi is impressive. Shruti Haasan doesn’t have much to do except appearing in a few songs and scenes. But she does even the small part well. The surprise package was Kazu Patrick Tang, whose performance and fighting impressed a lot. Other cast including Sharad Kelkar, Nathalia Kaur, Teddy Maurya etc do their job well.

The music is good, although a fast paced film like this didn’t actually need songs. The background score is thrilling. The cinematography, locations, VFX etc are all top notch. The fight sequences are extremely excellent and are of a kind never seen before. The editing is crisp and the film doesn’t bore you in even a single moment. The powerful story supports the equally captivating screenplay.

Overall, ROCKY HANDSOME is an action film never seen before. It’s an action packed adventurous ride that keeps entertaining till it comes to an end. For action lovers like me, this film is a full on entertainer that we were wiling to see since long. For all others, this is absolutely a new kind of experience that will be remembered for years to come. A sureshot blockbuster!

  • I have not usually preferred to watch dark movies in theatres. The last dark film I watched was DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY! in 2015. But this time, I first watched the trailer to convince myself and then decided to go for it after bring impressed with the trailer and the response it was getting. All amongst my peers had chosen to watch MS DHONI: THE UNTOLD STORY, which I didn’t. While and after watching PINK, I realized that I was right in choosing to watch it. It’s really a well made dramatic thriller which has not even a single dull moment that bores you at all.

PINK is not merely a film; it’s a movement as people call it. It doesn’t preach but practically explains the problems girls and boys face in today’s country. Director has done a terrific job by executing the story and screenplay in a way that we remain glued to our seats. There is also some natural humour which keeps us more entertained.

PINK is not only for a special section of viewers, it’s rather for one and all. The performances of all the actors hold this much excellent film together. Amitabh Bachchan gave perhaps the best one in his career. If he wins a national award for THIS performance, it would surely make us all very happy. Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea are the main actors who make us feel for them every time they fear, cry, smile and in every possible way they emote. Male actors like Angad Bedi, Vijay Verma etc deliver solid performances like the leading heroines too.

There’s nothing bad in PINK. Everything makes it a gem. I strongly recommend watching PINK for a strong combination of powerful storytelling, great performances and every other thing a perfect film has. And this film IS perfect. And make sure you don’t leave the theatre or screen before watching the end credits.

  • Let me tell you one thing about the Indian directors – these are the persons who know very well when, how, and in what way to use a good script. Director Kabir Khan is one of them. I don’t mind it now how poorly he had sculpted EK THA TIGER, but instead, he impressed me and almost every viewer with his last film BAJRANGI BHIAJAAN, which talked about peace. This time, he comes with an even powerful PHANTOM, and after watching it, every Indian viewer would be delighted. How, let’s analyze.

It’s an out and out Saif Ali Khan movie, who impresses big time. It was long time that I had seen him in such a role. Really, I can say that this is his best film ever. Katrina has a strong role, but looks and acts more like what was her character in EK THA TIGER. Zeeshan is once again terrific and gives a powerful performance. Rest of the cast does its part extremely well.

Another thing is that the film is made on such an issue that strikes correct notes with almost every Indian viewer. Undoubtedly, the film is too brave and energetic in its presentation, but the main thing it focuses on is the sacrifice of our brave Indian soldiers. For instance, the climax really left me emotional and I kept thinking about the film even when it was over. The film’s fast paced screenplay adds to the energy of the film. Believe me, there’s not even a single moment of boredom. The film fills every, almost every, viewer, full of energy and patriotism. Another thing that it isn’t a controversial film at all.

The songs are placed not for long and at right times only, as such films Indian at heart require some songs to convey the emotion. PHANTOM has a pleasant music, especially the song AFGHAN JALEBI, which is quite impactful and leaves you humming it. The editing is excellent and the locations are shot very well. The action scenes are just amazing and wonderfully executed. The thrills in the storyline keep you to the edge of your seats.

To be honest, PHANTOM also has such a patriotic flavour that no Indian would be able to actually resist watching this action packed film. And plus, the violence isn’t always intense, and so the film isn’t unsuitable for young viewers. The film is rated UA and is family friendly, with no vulgarity or obscenity in any scene or dialogue.

Before watching this film, what came to my mind was Kabir Khan’s poorly executed EK THA TIGER, which was also supposed to be a racy espionage action thriller, but turned out to be romantic thriller instead. Happily, this thing doesn’t happen in the case of PHANTOM and its focus remains only on its story and its message.

Overall, PHANTOM is a powerful and energetic patriotic action thriller that deserves a watch and the love of all Indians. Don’t miss this one. Simply go for it.

  • Kochadaiiyaan is the first Indian motion capture film and therefore I was not able to resist myself from watching this superb movie and I found that it was not just a superb animation film, but also a paisa vasool entertainer!

Seeing Rajinikanth in three roles for the very first time for me is very amazing experience. I had never seen him in such a superb movie. The performances, action sequences, animations, music were all the elements that it has utilized very well.I was awestruck how such an animation is possible.

On the whole,Kochadaiiyaan is a solid film that will appeal not only to Rajini fans, but to audiences of all ages.Solid entertainer!

  • I had never expected this from Salman Khan. After watching Ready, I had
never thought that he would make such a disappointing film. A big
disappointment overall! In other words, “Bodyguard” has no Bodyguard
for the film and due to it the film got ruined.

I have a belief that action movies never fail to entertain , but this
myth was broken after I watched this film. I will not say anything more
as I have already described what the film it is- a mindless entertainer
with nonsense comedy and a few good action scenes. At least, there would
have been a few jokes and focus on the story, but however even the
junked story does not work well at all.

Neither Salman nor his body made it a film. This film can’t be compared
to his previous blockbusters as this is not even a film. The worst film
    of the year!

  • So finally after a lot of struggles, I got to watch KABALI in Hindi. It really doesn’t give the feel of a dubbed film. It’s made very well with all titles in Hindi giving a feel of an original Hindi film. The title KABALI itself is very interesting. This is after a long time you get to see Rajinikanth in a different and offbeat film plus role. It’s not fully his regular stuff, but is filled with enough masala of his kind to entertain one and all, and of course, the fans.

The most talked about film of the year, KABALI has everything going in favour of it. Good acting, visuals, action, cinematography, music, story and screenplay and what not. Everything is perfect in this film. It’s a clean family entertainer too. Rajinikanth is nothing short of a superhero in KABALI. His performance is top notch. Dinesh, Dhansika, Radhika Apte etc all are first rate when it comes to their acts. Other actors also impress.

The music is good and doesn’t look like dubbed. The cinematography and locations are just so excellent that they can’t be described in words. The action is a major highlight of the film and is excellent. The story is also good and direction by Pa Ranjith impresses big time.

Overall, KABALI is a different Rajini film but has loads of entertainment. Don’t miss this Superhero (KABALI is a new addition to Indian superheroes) flick! A must watch!

  • Kamal Haasan is an excellent actor, we know that. He’s a good writer, we know that too. He’s a good director as well, we even know that. And for those who don’t know, we recommend watching VISHWAROOP. Once you will watch it, you will not be able to forget it. It’s an unforgettable, thrilling and adventurous action film that can’t be described easily in words.

First things first. VISHWAROOP is not a dubbed film from south. It’s a straight Bollywood film. Therefore, original Hindi cinema lovers can definitely watch it without thinking much. It’s a story about crime, hatred, and what all leads to a war. Right from the beginning frame, Kamal Haasan wins you over as a writer and a director. His creativity angle in the story makes it at par with world cinema.

Since it’s an action thriller full of suspense and surprises, it won’t be good to disclose anything about the story of the film. It’s better to watch it on your own to realize how great this film is. The story and screenplay both are amazing, and you wonder how come an actor can write such an interesting story with an even engaging screenplay. The visual effects are very nice and the camera work is top notch. Especially, the scenes of war and the fight sequences look amazing and you wish to just react in surprise. And yes, the action sequences are excellently choreographed and executed, and they look a treat to watch.

Kamal Haasan finally comes with a Hindi film after a long time. He is the soul of the film. The way he acts and reacts, gives the film an extra boost. Pooja Kumar thankfully has an important role unlike all heroines and she plays it well. Same for Andrea Jeremiah, who too has an impressive part and plays it well, till the end. Rahul Bose as the antagonist is menacing in several sequences. The other cast too leaves the desired impact.

The music is surprisingly excellent. The background score and all songs deserve a 100% rating. The title track is the best one. And the best part is that the editing is also very good, the songs do appear only when needed. There are several scenes that deserve special mention. Many time freeze sequences are filmed very well, and they add to the curiosity and tension of the scene. Very well played, indeed!

On the whole, VISHWAROOP is an unforgettable experience that deserves to be watched and loved by all audiences. It’s a kind of film never seen before and it has got all the stuff to entertain and enthrall you. What then? Just go, and watch!

  • Nowadays it has become a trend to make films with adult themes and they
are made to release for unrestricted public exhibition, but with
parental guidance. Thank you has vulgarity and humour in its roots. Its
not a really bad movie, but you know that excess of anything is bad.And thus
it becomes a bit difficult to watch the film with family.

The story, locations and performances, along with music are the plus
points of this film. Otherwise, the type of comedy you get to see at
places is quite vulgar and rude. Only a bit of clean comedy is
there.Akshay Kumar gives a nice performance, but the excess vulgarity
kills the role and the goodness in his role. Sunil Shetty provides a
bit of clean humor, especially when he’s happy, and the best one, when
he is framed. Bobby Deol does too much of vulgarity. The film has this
in excess that you think how come Censor Board gave this film a clean
    UA certificate?

But the story and music are nice. Akshay Kumar and his flute too are a
positive point for the film. But however, the film fails to captivate
    family audiences for long.

Overall, Thank You is an averagely made film that could have been
better if it lacked vulgarity. However, if you can still tolerate the
vulgarity, you may watch it once, and that too alone. Otherwise, just
    avoid it.

  • I don’t like romantic films: romance is the genre which is a dish overcooked by filmmakers of Bollywood. I also generally don’t watch films of Emraan Hashmi since they have often an A certificate and don’t suit for family viewing. But since this film Tum Mile had a UA Certification, I decided to watch it despite of being a romance hater. I found the film interesting in parts, but I didn’t find a reason to love the film.

Tum Mile is a kind of film that could have been entertaining as its own music. I really love the songs and I hear them a number of times. The music is truly the biggest plus point of the film. Not even a single song misses the mark. In the voice of K. K.the songs add soul to the film’s entertainment quotient and…..sorry, sorry! I was reviewing the film and not the music!

Coming to what actually the film contains, you find that the film is a simple love story narrated in a disconnected and confused way. The love angle and chemistry between the leading pair seems to be completely missing, despite of the love and pain they together depict in the songs. There are a couple of scenes that are dealt with very well, especially the interval scene, the climax scene and a few scenes which you will remember only if you really get lost in the film otherwise you won’t even remember what happened in the film. I am unable to recall what I had watched.

The technical aspects of the film are top notch. Cinematography is adequately handled and VFX seems quite good. But it’s the disconnected storyline and the screenplay that makes you feel disappointed. Once the film starts off, and the romantic story is revealed, the narrative loses its grip and as a result, even it’s own pace at which it was running.

Emraan Hashmi is just OK, since he’s not habitual of acting in such serious deglam dramatic films. Despite of the presence of Mantra, you don’t get a moment to laugh, or even think about it. There are various moments where the film’s pace breaks down and the entertainment level falls badly. However, the film manages to regain its speed in the climax. But till then, you find it to be too late.

Overall, Tum Mile is an average disaster drama film that does not meet the expectations one makes from this film. Its music is the biggest and perhaps, the only plus point of the film. Otherwise, an average narrative, poor execution, lengthy plot and many other negative things kill the interest. Watch it only for the songs, otherwise, buy the original audio CD and enjoy the songs at home. If you really want to watch the film, then be prepared for some shocking surprises.

  • (Written in 2013)

Dhoom 3- A film that had become very much popular before its release. I thought to celebrate new year by watching this film and this is the best action genre film of the year 2013.

The action scenes have been made in such a clean way, that they are going to bind the audiences with lots of whistles and applauses. All actors did well, only Katrina Kaif disappointed the most. I was just trying to avoid looking at her as she did not act at all. All actors except her delivered heart winning performances. The visual effects also worked well and emerged as masterpiece. The songs Malang and Dhoom Tap were the best ones. The locations, along with Uday Chopra’s perfect comic timing made it an international standard Indian film. And also, the bikes- they were the best!!!

On the whole, Dhoom 3 is a blockbuster entertainer with high-voltage action scenes and an emotional climax and wonderful locations. It is a must watch for all!!!

  • I watched the UA rated version of the film on TV, instead of theatre or DVD, as in case of other films. Now, keeping this apart and coming to the review, let me begin from here: Indian cinema doesn’t always mean stylish entertainment, there is a typical Indian cinema also. Sriram Raghavan’s action film BADLAPUR is that film. There were various reasons why I wanted to watch it: I always wanted to see a dark action film, I wanted to see Varun Dhawan in a dark role, which beard and moustache, of course, and also because it was a different revenge film, as I felt from the trailer.

BADLAPUR is a film which highlights that revenge doesn’t quench the thirst of either the killer or the one who’s willing to seek revenge. The film has a social message hidden within itself. It’s not difficult to understand it, and one will surely agree with what the director Raghavan is trying to say. Varun Dhawan is the guy who has surprised with his dark yet brilliant performance, wonder how he pulled the role of a 40 year old man when he’s himself of 27-28 in real life. He looks like an angry action hero who’s always willing to fight, and the one whose thirst for revenge is visible through his eyes. Nawazuddin : I mean, what an actor! No one can ever complain that he doesn’t act well. He’s the man who takes the story further. His performance is natural, and it’s hardly felt as if he’s “trying” to act. Other actors, like Vinay Pathak, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte, Divya Dutta and a few more main actors of this film do their parts very well.

The film’s visuals are splendid. The cinematography is like the one done for an art film. The visual effects are also in sync with the sequences. The action sequences, which are one of the biggest plus points, are excellent. In an action film, it’s necessary to have a sort of perfection, and the action of BADLAPUR is not just realistic but also brilliant.

The music is another plus point. The songs like Jee Karda and Jeena Jeena are the best ones that will remain with the audiences. The story and screenplay is truly amazing, brilliant, wonderful, excellent….what should I say? I have never seen such a different revenge film at all. The dialogues are also good, and the editing of the film is razor sharp, the locations are beautiful, and the background music score is also terrific.

Besides, let me clear one thing. Those who are thinking to avoid BADLAPUR only for the fact that it’s excessively violent and full of adult scenes need not to worry. You can watch it on TV, of course, I agree there would be a lot of ad breaks, but still on TV, the film is suitable for watching by the youngsters as well. The film has came out with a UA certificate and thus the question of being an unsuitable film goes away.

The film is the result of a genius behind it: Sriram Raghavan, the man who deserves the credit for bringing in great actors, and presenting a wonderful story with a good message for the viewers.

Overall, BADLAPUR is a good action film that has everything, almost everything in its favour : Good actors, powerful screenplay, brilliant action and pleasant music. Means, there’s nothing to avoid at all. If you like dark, thrilling, emotional, and action packed entertainers, then you must go for BADLAPUR. However, watching the A or UA rated version is your choice. You know mine, and I leave it to you, to decide yours.

  • Very rarely do people come across such “mastsrpieces” overloaded with extreme silliness and tomfoolery. DESHDROHI is a masterpiece in this regard. The makers wanted to make an action, crime, drama and thriller film but ended up making a comedy film indeed. I had a great laugh at the poorly written and delivered dialogues, bad general knowledge of the lead actor, funny fight scenes and what not. But it’s true it wasn’t supposed to be a comedy film, that’s why it’s an epic Disaster.

The self proclaimed critic KRK, who’s hardly liked by anyone, proves why. Well there’s nothing to talk about this guy as everyone knows. The scenes involving him fighting and delivering one liners are unintentionally so funny that you’ll even get pain in your mouth. Surprisingly, there’s a presence of big actors too and they do nothing except showering extremely downing performances.

The screenplay is weak, extremely and rather so much that it irritates at a point. Songs after song irritates. Action scenes are poorly choreographed and laughable to watch, with even more hilarious BGM. Dialogues are spoken in such a funny way one will die laughing. Though a fistful of shots are good, it’s regrettable to say that even emotional scenes look funny. KRK’s voice: When he’s getting beaten, shot or even crying: is so funny that it makes you think whether DESHDROHI is any film or a spoof.

What’s good is the writer’s dig at the situation north Indians face in states like Maharashtra. But, The present situation has changed a lot. The film is a blatant effort to turn a shoddy looking guy into a gangster-esque hero who can remember the names of freedom fighters but can’t tell the right number of states in India (Laugh and feel ashamed!). In other words, the film had potential, but a bad casting and laughable execution killed the film entirely.

The film goes some bit above disastrous verdict in a few parts in the first half where I thought I could rare it 1/5, but the film after that second half was so cringe-inducing, that I thought 0.5/5 is the best for the film. People either just keeping shouting or try making you shout. It’s not that it’s entertaining if it’s unintentionally funny. It’s quite boring too. Negative reactions keep coming out from your mouth while watching it.

The music is bad. Editing was…just leave it. Every other department underscores. Even visually the film doesn’t engage you. I was myself surprised how I couldn’t remember the last scene I watched. It was that bad.

Overall, DESHDROHI is an epic masterpiece disaster which is worth skipping for life. I just wanted to risk my sleep, my peace and my silence, and thus I watched it. And now I realized the essence of the film’s title. It needs not to be told that even making such films is called Deshd…Disciplined people like me and many can use decent words but haters can even turn to abuses. What else to say? A big DISASTER (Sorry makers, don’t take it personally. There are many people who have similar opinions, how many would you be unhappy with?) Note: For more fun and laughter, check the film’s budget and collection at Boxofficeindia.com.

  • It’s a true fact that we Indians love our heroes and protectors, who spend their lives for us, and when we see a film related to them, we all like those films and start to have a respect for the makers. Akshay Kumar’s patriotic action thriller AIRLIFT too is a film which showcases not just the pride in being Indian, but also that in being a true HUMAN.

Akshay Kumar starrer AIRLIFT is based on a true story, which might be the biggest reasons why this film succeeds in connecting with the viewers. Akshay’s performance and portrayal of a man struck by patriotism is simply outstanding. If you believe me, let me tell you that when Akshay got emotional on screen, I too had tears in eyes. Nimrat Kaur has a good role and she portrays it well; the role is not like a regular heroine in movies. Other actors do a great job and add flavor and color to the film.

Coming to the music, I hadn’t heard it before. I watched it only on the big screen. There aren’t much songs, but the ones that are there, make their way to the shelves of music buffs. The background score of the film is good and keeps you involved in. The dialogues oozing patriotism are simply to say, superb.

The technical aspects, as every war film has, are top notch and well executed. The action scenes are well choreographed, executed and filmed, and are quite realistic. The cinematography is brilliantly done with and filming locations are quite adorable. The editing is crisp and the film keeps you hooked till the end. The best thing I liked was the director’s way of placing the intermission point. You don’t have an idea that it would be an intermission signalling for. But, I meant that I liked every single frame of this film. There was nothing to dislike at all.

Another thing to mention is that AIRLIFT is a film which has a strong appeal not only for those who love their country and realistic movies, but also for the audiences who want to take home something they love in a film. In this film, there’s not only one portion to take home: You can take the entire film home. I liked the film so much that I think of adding it to my video library soon after it releases on DVD. Besides, despite of a UA certificate, the film is family friendly and can be watched with the family, and rather, the country.

To sum up, AIRLIFT is the finest film that has come this year, and has all the strength to become a major and notable success. Since I watched the film today on the occasion of Republic Day, as I was willing to, I would love to conclude with following lines: AIRLIFT : “SUCH A PRECIOUS AND LOVELY GIFT, WILL MAKE THE BAR OF INDIAN FILMS LIFT”.

Anything else, oh yes, I forgot to say that. JAI HIND.

  • (Written 2 years before the conclusion’s release)

It’s true that filmmaking is no easy job. Especially when it comes to make a film of a high and grand grandeur. But, Mr S. S. Rajamauli has proved that nothing is impossible of Indian filmmakers, provided that they have the technology, actors and of course, a story that can make a film work. Baahubali The Beginning is a perfect example of this thing.

From the very first scene, the film makes an impact on the viewers. As the film keeps unfolding, entertainment level increases. It can be said that what seemed to exist only in imagination has come to be true in Baahubaali The Beginning. It’s perhaps the first technically most brilliant film I have ever enjoyed on big screen ever in my life.

All a result of excellent filmmaking.

Coming to performances, Prabhas is quite energetic, and he fits in the provided roles. Tamannaah looks quite amazing and does very well and has a role never seen before. Anushka Shetty also does well in a little explored role. Sathyaraj does very well, as he has a good character and he delivers. Besides, Rana Daggubati also seems energetic in his character. Nasser, Ramya Krishnan and others too do their respective parts extremely well.

    A result of excellent performances.

Coming to music, you get to hear a pleasant music,as a trademark of every film of Rajamauli. The type of romance you get to see in almost every Rajamauli film too is present here. The film’s every element is so good that you will end up falling in love with it.

    A result of pleasing music.

Coming to action scenes and technical department, which are the main highlights of the film, the film scores a 100% in every context. There is not even a single scene where you will get a chance to blink. The war episodes, action scenes, from the beginning to the end, are really worth praise. It can be said that it’s another excellent film from the director who made Magadheera.

A result of devoted and highly entertaining imagination.

Coming to the story and screenplay, its here very well in the part 1. However, since its a two part film, you will have to wait for part two to find the entire story. But still, the way the film ends will leave you thinking what would be in the next part. But you will surely not forget this one.

It’s also true that for watching the conclusion, you need to watch the beginning. It’s a good trend by Rajamauli sir to make films in two parts so that the viewers enjoy both.

Overall, Baahubali The Beginning is a perfect, perfect and perhaps the most perfect film of Indian Cinema ever. It’s a sort of film that can’t be missed on the big screen. Besides, the part two will be coming soon in 2016. I am really unable to control my excitement and I have been thinking about it since the time I left my seat. It’s a sort of film that is truly great, amazing and good enough that you will be left stunned forever. Definitely a mega BLOCKBUSTER!

  • Watching political drama films is not in my routine list. Thus my review may not appeal to each and everyone. It’s true that Prakash Jha is a master at making Political films, but its also true that he faltered to handle such a sensitive subject.

Raajneeti is a predictable political revenge saga that has no soul in itself. The positive efforts of the film are overshadowed by damp writing, poor direction, and of course, a very ‘political’ type of routine screenplay.

The film starts off well. Till the interval, many things go well. However, a poorly scripted second half just doesn’t impress.

Talking of the performances, every actor, except Katrina, gives an immensely powerful performance. Rather, performances are the only redeeming feature of this film. The music is charming, but was however, not just needed at all. The cinematography is excellent. The climax of the film is well scripted.

Talking about what’s not good in the film, its obvious that a poor writing and characterization kills the film. Although you see Naseeruddin Shah in all posters prominently, you don’t get to see him for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Ranbir Kapoor’s character is the worst scripted. One is lost in translation, thinking whether his character is positive or negative. There are various moments where you realize that the film’s canvas was very big and the subject could have been exploited better. But, the film falls short of all the expectations one makes from this film.

But, there are a few scenes, which really deserve praise. The sequences involving Ajay Devgn are simply the best ones. Apart from this, there is nothing you can expect from this film.

On the whole, Raajneeti is a film that never takes itself seriously in terms of doing justice to its subject, but does take itself too seriously in terms of being a “Raajneeti” as a bad film. If you like such political revenge sagas, watch it, otherwise, avoid it with no regrets. Heavily disappointing.
