The supernatural-mystery stuff is well balanced with Baramulla's more grounded, socially realistic elements, making it one of the most unique and creatively well-realised Hindi films seen in a long time. While the final reveal plays too safe and it can be hit-or-miss for some, the journey leading there is so engaging that it's hard not to admire the film as a whole.

Baramulla isn't a typical horror thriller — it's a meditative, slow-burning exploration of grief, displacement, and the lingering wounds of Kashmir. By its haunting finale, Baramulla proves it's not about horror but about being haunted — by silence, snow, and stories that refuse to fade. It's a brave, visually poetic film that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll.

Aditya Suhas Jambhale’s film infuses partisan politics with supernatural horror — and the result is complicated.

The characters are too sketchily written and indifferently performed – even by the dependable Manav Kaul – to be engaging. The scare factor is negligent, constituting much groaning and sighing. After dithering about for far too long, Baramulla finally snaps into shape in the extended climax, pulling off the mask of horror to reveal … bared teeth.

A master of his craft, Manav brings out the quiet ferocity, restlessness, and vulnerability of Syed, making him a living, breathing contradiction that the narrative wants him to be. Baramulla presents an emotionally resonant tale that lingers, where the line between the rational and the otherworldly blurs for a greater purpose.
