• The tough guy-nice guy dichotomy is a set-up for some stereotypical masculine showdowns: building stuff, handling bullies, and comparing physical attributes. And a dance-off.

I’m not sure if there’s even a point in talking about cinematography. Oh, there was a GoPro skateboarding scene that’s the film’s one clever visual touch. That’s it.

If a light-hearted entertainer is what you were looking for this new year, this movie is just for you.

  • Neither is the humor edgy enough for the smarter audience nor is it fun enough to be a passable low brow comedy. It feels like the filmmakers attempted to make a full on low brow film but were restricted with a PG rating. As it stands, even a bad SNL skit is far more sophisticated than anything in this film.

  • A few laughs can be had on that but after a point it all gets tiresome and boring. The Boss (Thomas Haden Church) gets the best lines and the handyman (Hannibal Buress) a contractor hired and then fired by Brad, ekes out a few too. The childish antics of the grown-ups get to you after a point. And it’s really not funny anymore thereafter!
