Critic consensus
Critical reception for John Wick is largely positive, with reviewers converging on its efficient, stylish action as the film's strongest suit. Keanu Reeves' performance and the film's relentless pacing drew consistent praise across multiple reviews. The most common reservation is the film's thin, straightforward story, with critics noting it demands little from its audience intellectually. Most reviewers position it as a highly entertaining genre exercise rather than a work of cinematic distinction.

Film review ·
The film doesn't end Wick's character — if Hollywood were looking for a fresh new alternative to the Bond franchise, they really should make more 'John Wick' movies. Wick is a lot more fun than what Bond and Bourne could ever be. And he kick a ton of ass. Very stylishly.
Film review ·
Gun-fu, fast cars, Keanu in black, headshots, bad guys with bad attitudes and whole lot of combat. That is all. A simple story about revenge. Watch this movie with your buddies and enjoy a tightly done action film with no loose ends.
Film review ·
A perfect blend of angst, brutality and soft, damp eyes, Keanu Reeves is the best John Wick that one could possibly find.It should be understood that this film is no masterpiece. However, if you're a fan of action thrillers and have hungrily devoured Stallone and Segal's crappiest films of the same genre, then you're going to love this.
Film review ·
There is not a wasted second in Wick's relentless and efficient pursuit of his wrongdoers. This revenge film looks slick, stylish and despite its camp story line, keeps you engrossed throughout with a strong impact. John Wick is a raucous romp of a movie and offers you no-holds-barred action all the way.

An 'A' film this is not but if some good old action is what you are looking for, this is your manna from heaven. Just leave your thinking caps behind.

There is more than a neat and rich gentlemanly dressing up in Chad Stahelski's John Wick than I could handle, making it almost impossible for me to avoid another viewing. TN.
