Mark Antony is not a great film, but it's quite a refreshing entertainer that delivers what it promises.

SJ Suryah dazzles, but this time-travel gangster ride loses its grip halfway.

Critic consensus
Critics are divided on Mark Antony, a time-travel gangster film that earns lukewarm responses overall. SJ Suryah's performance is the most consistently praised element across reviews, with several critics calling him the real highlight of the film. On the other hand, the screenplay — particularly in the second half — and the film's inability to fully commit to its own brand of mindless entertainment draw the most criticism. A few critics found the absurdist tone charming, while others felt the stilted execution and plastic feel kept the film from reaching its potential.

Film review ·
SJ Suryah is the heart and soul of this mindless time-travel film. The time-travel gangster film is a whacky and crazy ride that works well because of its (un)intentional comedy, though the screenplay could have been crisper towards the second half.
Film review ·
Mark Antony is entertaining whenever SJ Suryah is on the screen. All said and done, the film fails to provide mindless entertainment, which seems to be its only objective, with everything feeling plastic and the violence failing to provide catharsis.
Film review ·
Mark Antony is a classic example of mindless fun which also packs a punch. Though Vishal is back with a bang, it's SJ Suryah, who is the real star of the show. Watch it for his high-voltage performance.
Film review ·
Mark Antony squandered its potential, leaving us with a lingering sense of dissatisfaction. In excess, there are short inspired stretches in the film that really point you towards the potential that the film had, but couldn't reach.
Film review ·
In Mark Antony, it is hard to tell if the stilted acting, frantic music, and absurd storyline are supposed to be parodies, or if director Adhik Ravichandran really thinks this is how silly audiences are. This sci-fi action film simply fails to work.
