Shorn of the tension of being locked in, The Scorch Trials is just one long dash through a series of similar landscapes and awefully tiring zombies.

Director Wes Ball imbues the right level of energy with inspired, high-octane action pieces keeping you glued. It might falter on many grounds but nonetheless, delivers solid entertainment for its entire runtime.

The CGI is impressive with the apocalyptic visuals of Los Angeles but beyond that, perhaps the book doesn’t have enough firepower to make it into an engrossing film. All we see is, the teenagers escaping from one place to another, fighting soldiers or zombies.

This film doesn’t provoke any adult discussion about ethics and morality in a dystopian world, ultimately it’s just a thrill ride for kids, and on that front it works fairly well.

The film has enough twists and turns to keep you entertained. You’re unlikely to be anything close to bored while the movie runs for a little over two hours . Also, being a part of a trilogy, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is a must­watch, if you want to stay updated with the story.
