"Director Venkatesh Maha returns after five years with a psychological thriller that slowly creeps under your skin and makes you appreciate cinema as an artform. Satyadev delivers a career-best performance."

"Rao Bahadur is a sincere attempt to tell a story in a distinctive manner. The idea is admirable, and the climax justifies much of the film’s thematic ambition, with Satyadev delivering a performance worthy of applause. However, the painfully slow narration, overstretched screenplay and self-indulgent storytelling make it a tiresome watch."

"Satyadev in the role of Bhuvanam Ramappa Rao Bahadur, delivered a once-in-a-lifetime performance. However, the film may have issues and unfortunately, it appeared that Venkatesh Maha firmly believed that the final twist was the only reason for 'C/o Kancharapalem's' success and seemed to have first developed a twist and then wrote the story and screenplay around that twist for, Rao Bahadur, which makes the storytelling oscillate between very good to good to annoying."

"Rao Bahadur features a fascinating central character, brought to life by an excellent Satyadev, and offers thoughtful commentary on class privilege and ancestral pride. However, its sluggish pacing, theatrical dialogue, oversimplified psychological lens and tonally uneven climax prevent it from fully realising its rich potential."

"The film, built on a theatrical setup, takes a while to warm up but leaves you with plenty of afterthoughts."

"The carefully constructed drama gives way to a series of delightful twists that are both entertaining and thought-provoking. Rao Bahadur ventures into fantasy, lacing its psychological drama with touches of magical realism, crafted as a fable that engages rather than preaches about the weight of caste, class, colour, lineage and identity. The result is an ambitious, playful film that rewards attentive viewers."
