What 9 critics are saying

Critical consensus on Reporting Live leans negative, with most reviewers finding the film undermined by a predictable, clichéd screenplay that fails to generate genuine tension or emotional impact. A handful of critics acknowledged the film's relevant subject matter and noted that the pacing and performances are competent enough to keep it watchable. However, the majority pointed to weak writing, underdeveloped characters, and a formulaic treatment of the investigative journalism premise as central failings. Several critics specifically noted that the film offers little that feels new to the genre.

But convinced of its first-off-the-post exploration of TV newsfloors, compromised anchors, and the tentacles of the powerful digging deep into neta and babu pockets, as if no one has ever done any of it before, the film never gets out of its explanatory mode. Chopra is, yet again, single-note in her never-say-die reporter avatar, and there's a film here, but buried under weak writing.
  2. Times Of India

    Film review

Reporting Live is a well-intentioned but familiar investigative thriller. Its relevant subject, competent performances, compact storytelling and atmospheric visuals make it reasonably engaging, but the predictable plot and limited character development keep it from making a stronger impact.
  3. India Today

    Film review

Unfortunately, a banal screenplay and uneven performances prevent this promising story from becoming the gripping newsroom drama it could have been. The narrative moves in a straight line, with few genuine surprises, little dramatic tension and no real emotional high when the journalists finally make their breakthrough.
  4. Hindustan Times

    Film review

Reporting Live is a case of a promising premise let down by predictable writing. The brisk pace and solid performances make it watchable, but the film never quite builds the tension its subject demands.
  5. Rediff

    Film review ·

Hurt and humiliation is skin deep in Reporting Live's truth-seeking, which is why its cynical view of a crusader's fate leaves no impact. Shoddy treatment of a serious concern results in a staggeringly bland drama.
  6. KoiMoi

    Film review

Reporting Live follows the similar blueprint of journalist films and it has nothing new, in fact it has nothing old as well

However, after identifying the issues, the film struggles to inhabit them. The treatment feels detached, reading more like an outsider's textbook critique of the fourth column's fault lines. The makers critique media bosses for burying risky stories, yet the film takes few creative risks itself.
