The Best of Me Reviews and Ratings

The Best of Me fits well enough in the genre to which it belongs and will obviously prove to be a major tearjerker for hopeless romantics. The rest of us can only find it amusing, at best.

Beautiful visuals are another asset. A scene shot in a lake where the actress is shown to be rotating and floating in water is liberating – a metaphor for letting go of fixed notions and following your heart. The film has a lot of hidden messages like these, which unfortunately get overshadowed by an overdose of mush and superficial love scenes that get massive footage.

In totality, Hoffman and his team capture the flamboyance of the 1990s along with the lilting background score in style, making it an ideal film for a romantic date.
For others, it would be a mushy entertainer nevertheless.
