The Elephant Whisperers

The docufilm is capable of making you cry, or even sob during the separation scene, and is clearly the finest presentation of the year. In fact, the complete documentary appears more like an experience, that needs to be felt, than rather just to be seen.

'The Elephant Whisperers' is an oasis in a sea of edgy stuff that we are being bombarded with these days. It expresses love and devotion in its purest form, with no hidden agenda. This documentary is a must-see and should not be missed.

This short documentary is an inspirational and emotional watch, which has made me want to run away and devote my life to looking after elephants. For the short amount of time it takes to watch, I felt I went on an emotional journey in this documentary. It packs a small punch and is definitely worth the watch, especially if you love elephants.

The Elephant Whisperers is ultimately a love-story about the power of community. Even though the narrative, fuelled largely by voiceovers, is fairly straightforward, the storytelling manages to be simultaneously gentle and persuasive. In being an example of the unconditional love and compassion that is capable of overwriting grief and suffering, The Elephant Whisperers champions the dignity of — all kinds of — life.

What makes 'The Elephant Whisperers' distinct from other documentaries is the fact that it wasn't just a heart-touching story of a bond between animal and human and a shining example of how we can continue to coexist, but also touched upon Indian culture, our long-forgotten values and spoke of conservation in the most positive, hopeful light. The impact this little documentary made is a wonderful sign of how strong content can win hearts with its subtlety and hold its own against bigger films.
