Uppu Karuvaadu Reviews and Ratings
-
All said and done, Radha Mohan known for his breezy films like Mozhi and Abhiyum Naanum is back with his signature style of clean comedy and Uppu Karuvadu is watchable once for its fun ride.
-
The standout is Doubt Senthil, as a naive assistant director who keeps using the wrong similar-sounding English word — bald for bold, impotent for important, Akila Kurosawa for Akira Kurosawa and so on. In the end, despite the considerable failings, it is these touches that ensure that we leave the theatre with a smile on our face.
-
Uppu Karuvadu works primarily as it has the audacity to cast actors in unconventional roles putting them in unusual situations & letting them mouth dialogues that seem natural. All this set in the midst of a premise-conflict-resolution template means fun film overall!
-
Uppu Karuvadu is actually a clean comedy entertainer with interesting characters and the whimsical performances of all the actors. It’s not a cakewalk for directors to evoke laughter with each and every dialogue, but Radha Mohan has pulled it off in style with the help of his witty dialogue writer.
-
On the flip side the gags at times seem to be forced, with some falling flat. The film should have been shorter with a crispier narrative but with more positives than negatives, Uppu Karuvadu is certainly a fun film!

The film at the end of the day might make you wear a pleasant smile on your face, but one might wonder what is actually missing in it. It has some fun elements for which you might laugh your heart out, but is it thoroughly satisfactory? It might not, at least for some.
Verdict: A decent flick that could crack you up! -
One wonders what these ideas could have been with better execution, with a bit of craft. There’s so much good material, so many interesting characters, so many funny ideas…but they remain mere ideas as we watch Uppu Karuvadu.
