A supposed to be straighforward film gets around a lot of chaos with the twists, jumps between periods and falls behind on the execution to a fair extent. All said the movie is a good attempt from the first time director and continues to encourage the innovation platform in Kollywood. Verdict : A good fantasy revenge drama letdown by average execution.

…a movie like this sure would have looked good on paper, but its execution just doesn’t work well with the viewers. Too many cooks do spoil the broth, we say.

The movie has nothing good or new to survive in the box office race.

The movie drags on through illogical dialogues, pathetically so-called hilarious sequences, sickening female jokes, out-of-the-blue nonsensical dance song-and-dance items, missing story….. All this is only bliing, bliing, bliing, but when one thinks about the logical side, as a whole it’s just poor fling, fling, fling…. It may impress the front benchers or the rural crowd. But this Singh’s Bliing will make others yawn…

The comedy falls flat, the romance isn’t intriguing enough to make us feel for the boy or the girl plus the backward forward narration muddles the process.

Imran Kangana look fresh. Both the lead have fallen prey to weak writing which is further marred by cliché mentality. It’s a rom com so college is a must. The lack of finesse in twining manipulative sugary emotions with reality as done by other makers is clearly missing.

‘Brothers’ is a big disappointment. The easy, uninspiring, simple, obvious and boring remake of Hollywood’s ‘Warrior’ struggles to deliver as an action packed emotional family drama even after a terrific Akshay and reformed Sidharth. Still you can watch it if you are an Akshay, Sidharth die hard. Else take your call.

The film depends predominantly on Singampuli and he does not disappoint in giving his brand of comedy. He also has scope for emotions in the second half and with that he proves he is not just a comedian. Arulnithi as a good minded policeman who seriously tries to restore the peace gives what is required for the character. Remya Nambeesan is refreshing while Bhagavathy Perumal and Rajkumar could have been used better to bring in more fun and laughter.

On a whole Maari is a regular masala movie, the ones which hardcore Dhanush fans would love to watch. What’s more pricking is that, Dhanush after establishing name across Pan India as a man who could pull of a blinder with Raanjhaana, 3, Shamitabh is back in a role which has little scope for experimentation, something which he always embraced with. For a man of his caliber, the expectation from an ordinary fan is always sky high and Maari falls short of that.

Albeit, Valiyavan is a fulfilled first half tries hard with an unconvincing second. Good cast, unconvincing plot.
