Nil Battey Sannata misses the bus in conveying the message effectively enough. It has a fine one-line story but the journey is not convincing enough. It will, therefore, not be able to score at the ticket-windows.

Fan is a good entertainer, not an outstanding one. Its first half is enjoyable but the post-interval portion is less entertaining and the climax is a big letdown. It will, of course, make profits but a long run at the cinemas is ruled out. Business in multiplexes and cities will be better than in the single-screen cinemas and small centres. Classes will like the film more than the masses.

Kapoor & Sons is an entertaining film for the youth and the families, mainly of the cities, and for the multiplex-frequenting viewers. It will not be able to do much in the single-screen cinemas and in small centres but its business in the cities and multiplexes will be big enough to make the film a hit. As it is, around 70% of the total investment has already been recovered from non-theatrical sources (satellite, music and Internet rights).

Jai Gangaajal is a dull and unexciting film with an oft-repeated subject and one which gives the audience the feeling of having been cheated because it revolves around Prakash Jha instead of Priyanka Chopra. It will face rejection from the public and will, therefore, entail heavy losses to the investors.

Zubaan is a well-made and well-enacted film but its commercial prospects are poor because at the end of it all, it appears as an exercise in futility and without purpose.

Neerja is a surefire hit. It is a human drama which will move the audience to tears a number of times. Because the story is not too well-known, the curiosity value of the film will be immense, more so because it presents a realistic account of what happened in the hijack drama of 1986. The film may have started slow but there can be no two opinions about the prediction that the film has wings to take flight and its collections will shoot up on the strength of a hugely positive word of mouth.

Loveshhuda is a love story without a soul. It will, therefore, fail to touch the audience’s hearts.

Sanam Re is a dull film with good music as its plus point. In fact, it is because of the very popular music that the film has opened reasonably well. But it does not have the strength to sustain in the cinema houses for too long and will not be able to do much at the box-office. Its medium budget on the one hand and recoveries from non-theatrical sources on the other will ensure that the producers make a profit.

Fitoor is very slow and confusing too. Rather than happiness, it sells depression. It may be liked by a section of the class audience but it will be rejected by the masses and will, therefore, prove to be a box-office disaster, entailing a huge loss to all concerned.

Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 is rather dull and will not be able to sustain the initial craze (among masses of single-screen cinemas, because of the brand) because the comedy looks contrived.
