Lokesh Dharmani's Film Reviews
-
The story is sad. The treatment is bad. It is long and loopy and manipulative but it hurts more because it is based on a true story.
-
Azhar could have been bad-ass, controversial, exciting, masaledaar… alas the simplistic safe treatment leaves it pretty bland.
-
Baaghi bored me largely. Watch it only if you are an MMA fan…
-
Laal Rang could have been red hot alas turned out to be like a red flag to a bull. Don’t be in the red, spend your weekend on a beach or at a shopping mall and paint the town red or else you will see red. In a line, the film loses fizz sooner than you expect. Watch it only if you like Randeep Hooda. He is fab in the movie.

SRK keeps it subtle, however, I wish Aryan’s stubbornness and arrogance were further explored, both in writing and acting.
Fan is implausible, unreasonable and unconvincing. -
Ki And Ka suffers from lazy, confused, amateur writing. There is out-of-character behavior and illogical scenes inserted in the name of feminism.
-
The action of the film is impressive but without much emotional context, it fails to leave an impact. Also, the film uses more knives than all the episodes of Masterchefs put together. It looks sharp and slick initially, alas turns into an unnecessary gore fest towards the end.
-
The plot of an Osama doppelganger torn between Americans and terrorists is funny indeed but loses punch because of lazy writing and loud performances.

Shot beautifully, Fitoor does appeal to you. Anay Goswami’s lens captures Kashmir beautifully. There are shikaras, snow-clad mountains, wooden houses and, of course, chinar leaves that have a special talent of turning everything mediocre into OhhhMyyyGoooodddThat’sSooooBeauuuutiifulll.

The beauty of Saala Khadoos is that it’s building to a finale that you can see from light years: a grand international match with a badass Russian boxer who, we all know, will be biting the dust by the end of it. You see, the writers have done such a fine job that it doesn’t shock the viewers at all.
