• While the period detailing is great, the film does have a few historical inaccuracies. And yes, the pace can be a bit slow at times but the emotional intensity of the film never sags. And John McNamara’s script saves the day.

  • Supported by a very clever script, Deadpool is deliciously irreverent, subversive and uproariously funny.

  • Without giving away any spoilers, suffice to say that Katz does attempt steer the storyline into deeper territory towards the finale of the film. Wanna watch it? Your choice, really.

  • Enjoy movies about daring rescues? Go watch this…

  • …this is a beautiful tale of a mother’s love for her child, selfless and pure. Joy will do anything – and she does indeed – to ensure the well being of her charge. And yet, their existence is curiously symbiotic. Very few movies are able to touch upon the bond between a mother and child with such tender grace, set in contemporary times.

  • Astier, Clichy and crew have – in terms of renderings and dialogues – stayed very faithful to Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo’s beloved characters and have dished out something that is both briskly-paced as well as entertaining enough for its core audience, children. This one makes for some fairly delightful viewing.

  • Point Break comes across as a string of admittedly amazing action sequences and sports feats with the rest of the film haphazardly built up around it. The logic of going base jumping and snowboarding to combat climate change is bizarre. One scene will remind you of Fight Club. Another, of The Beach. Ray Winstone, who plays a grizzled agent, could have deserved more screen time. If you bother to watch it at all, treat it like a showreel for extreme sports, as it’s pretty unengaging from almost every other angle.

  • There is nothing really monster-like about these well-rendered characters. They’re not scary-looking; in fact, they resemble inflated toys. And in terms of emotional quotient, they express the same kind of feelings as the humans do. There is a moral angle here – that about learning how to coexist, acceptance and other good values. This one will keep the kids entertained.

  • The storytelling is top notch. It’s a carefully-crafted dance of nuance that balances a bit of everything. The set pieces are spectacular and then of course, there are the lightsaber battles… The Force is indeed, epic with this one. Don’t miss it.

  • On the plus side, the action scenes are slick and stylish. But as mentioned earlier, too much of it does weigh a bit heavily on you. But all said and done, this is Salma Hayek channeling her inner GI Jane. It could have been way more ambitions though.
