Shubha Shetty-Saha's Film Reviews

Imagine spending a night in a shack on a beach in Goa, drinking your poison and sharing mad jokes with friends all night. Watch this one for a slice of that kind of experience.
-
All this film needed was a bit more guts to chart its own path with Mary Kom herself as an inspiration. But sadly, they chose to play to the gallery instead. Mary and Priyanka deserved a better film.

If you are looking for novelty, this is not the place to be. We are all more than familiar with the stories of the hero/heroine striving to win a dance/singing/cricket/hockey/etc championship on a world platform and finally managing to show them the Indian mettle in nail biting climax. But MAD has its charm. It has delightful, lovable characters and it has a sincerity about it that is unmissable.

Extremely well-researched, Katiyabaaz is all that a good documentary should be. The camera follows Loha Singh relentlessly even as he goes about his duties and soon Maheshwari is getting increasingly despondent with the situation. Ironically, in a situation which seems hopeless, you find hope and the story of survival. Please go and watch this one, as doing so would encourage many such documentaries to see the light of the day.

Watch it if you are an action junkie or an Ajay Devgn fan.

All in all, a fun experience. So don’t paw-nder for too long, just watch this one.
-
Watch it. It’s light-hearted and quite smart.

Watch this one. This might not be on par with RGV’s good ol’ spooky films like Raat and Bhoot, but this young director has made a good enough attempt to give you a good scare. Given the choices that we have these days in this genre, this film definitely stands out.

This film clearly doesn’t take itself too seriously and it doesn’t want you to either, which is kind of nice. A me-too, even if in the form of open admiration, has the danger of being easily forgettable. But this film might just not be, because it does manage to stand on its own two feet at some points.

The director creates a charming world that you are reluctant to get out of, even when the film is over. Now that is an achievement.
