Jupiter Ascending then, is a missed opportunity for the Wachowskis—and a missed opportunity for viewers.

  • he Jupiter-Caine love story angle falls flat but it is Redmayne’s deliciously evil, ruthless Balem who you actually want to see more of. Thankfully though, there is enough originality in here to please hardcore sci-fi fans.

Some of the action scenes are above average and the 3D effects are not as jarring as they usually are. On the whole this is not the kind of film that fans of the Wachowski’s might be expecting but it is okay for a one time watch.

  • It’s frustrating that the filmmakers who so effortlessly adapted the complex Cloud Atlas to the big screen managed to render such a derivative, noisy and forgettable action film.

Jupiter Ascending may not be at par with previous Wachowskis films like The Matrix and Cloud Atlas, but it makes for a satisfying watch if you go in expecting a reasonably smart pulpy action extravaganza.

  • Overall, viewing “Jupiter Ascending” with its faulty script is a tedious affair. It leaves you gasping for oxygen.

Jupiter Ascending is worth a watch for its models of intergalactic technology, infrastructure and the fact that Sean Bean doesn’t die in this one.
