Kaaka Muttai Reviews and Ratings
-
‘Kaakka Muttai’ is a window facing the sea which allows the calm evening sun to enter the muscles and ribs of the human body to warm the heart. The evening sun also brings with it a refreshing breeze staging the essentiality of watching a film.
-
The only disappointment I had with the film was its rather cliched way of reaching the finale. We have seen an innumerable times the cocky interference by television channels, the corrupt politicians and the unethical practices of businessmen. Manikandan could have devised another climax in a movie which uses subtle ways to condemn ruthless consumerism and the brazenness of celebrities in promoting products.
-
Overall, with unenhanced visuals that gives a sense of verisimilitude, acting that isn’t staged and dramatized in any obvious sense, and more importantly, characters that bring alive a subsection of the populace, Kaakka Muttai is sure to make you at least a slightly better person than you were before, owing to the reflective power of the film.
-
The director has touched upon many issues: the class divide, poverty, desires, the root of anti-social behaviour, the fickleness of society, the lure of advertisements, the influence of film stars, and the insensitive media. But he has chosen to do it discreetly.
He has generously peppered the narrative with fun moments without undermining the underlying concern.
Kaaka Muttai is totally worth it, definitely a must watch.
-
Yes, there is difficulty and sorrow in their lives, but there is also an abundant amount of ingenuity, endless optimism, and indefatigable spirit and this is what makes these characters memorable and helps the film soar.
-
Ultimately, Kaakka Muttai celebrates the joys of childhood and the vivid imagination of kids, who find a way to reach their goal even if it is the most arduous one.
-
…is a little gem that’s highly recommended and deserves to be celebrated. Tamil cinema should be proud of it and Dhanush and filmmaker Vetrimaaran should proudly raise their collars for co-producing it.

Rush to the nearest theatre and don’t forget to take your children along to witness a slice of life that will fascinate you…

This movie has involves a brilliant piece of writing and fantastic performances by Ramesh, Vignesh and Iyshwarya Rajesh. Don’t miss it!
-
…is a slice of life vibrant film which is sure to put a big smile on your face as you are stepping out of the movie hall. Well done Manikandan for making a truly international film which entertains and also shows what globalization has done to the poorest of the poor. It stimulates the one organ that popular Tamil cinema consistently ignores–the brain! Give it a chance and prepare to be dazzled.

Is it possible to entertain the audience while hitting them hard with subtle messages? Is it possible to satisfy both critics and commercial movie lovers to the fullest at the same time? Kaaka Muttai achieves exactly these. It’s not everyday you come across movies like Kaaka Muttai, for it is rare.

Kakka Muttai is must watch film… Don’t miss this brilliant film!
-
Simplicity is the soul of Kaakka Muttai which helps it earn its brownie points. When this is combined with noble intentions and good execution, it is little wonder that the film has earned all its accolades.
In all, the beautifully made Kaakka Muttai will easily be one of the gems of Tamil cinema that will please all types of audience. Go for it!

This is one of the best Tamil films to have come of late. The little ones would find more joy in the two boys’ lives than they ever would with VFX-manufactured entertainment, more so because it’s relatable. If there’s one film you wish to watch with your children this weekend, let it be Kaakka Muttai. Rewatch it even, if time permits.
