Tere Ishk Mein

It is a love story that is an advertisement that love can do without.

Tere Ishk Mein ends up being a totally outdated, confused, heavy-on-melodrama-and-glycerine mish-mash of genres that glorifies an 'aggressive, angry, alpha' man whose uncontrollable temper and toxicity make him nothing but the reddest of all red flags. In 2025, this film's attempt to shove down our throats the most toxic of male tropes—that what the male lover wants, the male lover will get—is deeply problematic and unbelievable.

TERE ISHK MEIN is an intense love saga, backed by memorable dramatic moments and strong performances by Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. But the overlong runtime and a weak second half severely curb its impact. At the box office, it is poised for a double-digit opening.

The film may appeal to those who enjoy emotionally charged love dramas. For others, the runtime and narrative may take away from what could have been a more compelling experience.

As Dhanushand Kriti Sanon come together for the first time on screen, their unlikely yet wicked pairing is what makes the film bearable despite all the noise. Bout my only request to filmmakers is please STOP celebrating TOXICITY.

The flawed story with impossible convolutions and ludicrous execution ultimately fails to touch the viewer, with the last half hour testing patience through stretched logic. While Dhanush delivers a remarkable performance that moves us, even he deserved a better psychologist and a better film overall.
