Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon deliver confused film that combines sci-fi tropes with mushy Indian family drama.

Once the novelty of the notion wears off - and that happens pretty quickly - there is little on offer here barring the fact that this is the first time that Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon have teamed up.

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is an uninspiring hodgepodge of lacklustre ambition and dreariness. Sitting through it almost feels like a snooze fest with the plot running haywire with no real end goal. It turns out to be an unexciting, puzzling and a bit of a jarring experience.

The movie becomes a wedding show, taking us through every essential ritual, with the second half dragged to boredom. The makers add several subplots presented in such haste that the impact hardly lasts, and the film suffers from messy, lengthy narration filled with boring jokes and daily soap-like family drama.

As artificial intelligence finds its way into the deep recesses of human emotions, writer-director Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah have conjured up an unlikely romantic drama between a man and a machine that, after a laboured start, compels you to log out of logic to realise the matrix of modern-day relationships in a fun way. But the writing could have been a little sharper and wittier. At many points in the film, you feel that Joshi and Sah have the right plot points but they have not been able to fully milk the potential, leading to a flaccid middle portion.
