The film's a sparkler, from the word go. From the onset of the adventurous train journey that leaves Mumbai for Bhatinda with its quirky passenger duo of a phataka Kareena and an angry young boy-man Shahid, through the winding mossy ways of the heartland (literally, so), till its final filmy destination, the film's a warm and stylish voyage that gently carries you along.

Of the cast, none of the supporting performances is worth a wow. Shahid Kapur is boyish charm personified and tackles difficult scenes with maturity. Kareena Kapoor is outstanding. She handles mood swings – from the narcissistic to the self-effacing – with spontaneity. Yup, there is a chemistry. Jab We Saw, We Liked. Worth a trip.

...a movie that needs to be studied by students of cinema and makers of Bollywood. The movie teaches a valuable lesson which is that you don't need an "out of this world" script in order to make an "out of this world" movie. This one is without a doubt, one of the masterpieces of 2007!

Full marks to Imtiaz Ali for keeping it straight and simple. JAB WE MET is surely worth a watch. I'm sure like the above-mentioned films (Love Story, QSQT and DDLJ) it will have a repeat audience as well.

While watching the movie, there were various points at which, I wanted the script to take an unexpected turn. A turn that would make it a little more substantial than just "time-pass". But, that was not to be. It's silly, it's mushy-mushy, it's not to be taken seriously at all - it's a perfect date movie. No more, no less.

'Jab We Met' is a magically romantic film which sings of the personalities the lovers- Geet and Aditya- have. And boy, how fun are they! Imtiaz Ali created a soaring, romantic movie called Socha Na Tha a few years back. Though I loved the film, I feared that the debut director would be lost somewhere in the lights of the festive circuit, never finding a true place in the mainstream Bollywood. But then, who knew that this man would someday direct the most fluffy, the most masala mainstream film with all elements from airy romance to heartbreak to plenty-of-laughs, actually, absolute fun? No one, and that's the effect this man creates with his Jab We Met, a story of lovers. Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have a great chemistry as Geet and Aditya despite splitting up, but the real power here is with the director, who creates a stylish candyfloss Bollywood film with emotions. A must-watch despite tedium.
