From the director of Taken, you would expect a taut thriller given the subject of the film, but Pierre Morel doesn’t quite manage to pull this one off. Yes, there are a few thrills occasionally but as a cohesive film it barely makes the cut.

The Gunman closely follows the already tired I’ll-find-you-and-I’ll-kill-you formula to dismaying results. The only reason anyone should ever watch it is if you hate Liam Neeson, but love his films.

There are a few things in this world that are as painful as watching The Gunman. Getting your teeth and your fingernails pulled out simultaneously is what it really feels like. Avoid this movie like the plague. That said, there are a few good action sequences that are interesting. So if you don’t mind a slow and dull plot and prefer a decent action flick, then this film might just be your cup of tea.
