Seriously a ‘dramatic representation’ of India’s Mangalyaan…Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Mission Mangal tells an untold story, however, it holds attention intermittently.

Every scene seems to have a distinctive Madhur Bhandarkar influence which, over repetitive representations, seem lacklustre and jaded with oft seen, stereotypical characterizations. This pales the viewing experience, this time over.

The movie in itself was a message, you don’t have to give sermons to educate the audience.

The movie just works for our lead couple performances, who try to hard to conceal the badly sketched story line.

Overall, with editor Soham Mehta’s smooth transitions and effective background score by Daniel Walter and Christopher Carmichael, this well-etched documentary is entertaining, but lacks historical value or essence.

The first half is sufficiently loaded with desi guns and their ‘thaae thaae’ which gives you more headache than any logical stance. Unfortunately, it is carried forward in the second half minus any sense but plus some over the top emotional drama.

…whatever Habib has in his junket is surely to be tried once.
He may have missed out on appropriate amount of spices or may have just scalded couple of the recipes but he manages to keep us engaged in his carnival ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’.
