Dark, disturbing and full of gore, Fateh is gung-ho in its efforts to make this stylised action yarn as brutal as possible. But if you strip all that away, Sood's action romp is a pretty basic genre film.

If you are a fan of Sonu Sood, Fateh could make for a decent watch. Otherwise, it suffers from unexciting treatment even when style and action are in abundance.

The sickening, ultra-gratuitous violence, and almost everything else makes Fateh a pathetic debut as writer-director. Sonu Sood's mission to take down cybercriminals becomes nothing but a non-stop shower of violence that is sickening beyond description.

Sonu Sood's directorial debut is a blood and gore-fuelled fest, disguised as a film highlighting cyber crime. Which it does not do well. After a point, the slick action stops evoking shock as well. And the digital scam gets amateur treatment.

After promising to take forward the renewed interest in the classic action genre, on the lines of Animal and Kill, the adults-only film falls into a painful pattern where the plot refuses to thicken and emotions don't swell enough to turn the theatre into a slaughterhouse. The Korean rawness in action is impressive but when the storytelling and performances turn out to be undercooked, the blood on the floor becomes a liability.
