Palnati Surya Pratap’s film isn’t all mushy and he deserves a pat on his back for that. The emotions of the leads are true and it rightly says that at the end of the day trust is all that matters and nothing else comes into the picture.

The film’s first half is entertaining and the climax is very surprising. But the film also has many flaws. On one hand, the boy condones his friends’ behaviour when they steal money from ATMs but when it comes to the girl, he takes on a holier-than-thou attitude. There are quite a few other inconsistencies. The second half is a bit slow and could have been made better. The film is a coming-of-age love story and definitely not for kids, given the adult dialogues and scenes.

In an industry where a damsel-in-distress-wooed-and-saved-by-an-angry-young-man is the norm, this is a refreshing film which provokes some thought.

What you end up getting is a climax that gets the point across in the most half-assed way possible, managing more to reinforce the regressive nature of the story’s beginning than to move away from it. This movie also makes you realize that Sukumar does not really write characters, but Ideas, which is true particularly in the case of Kumari. She is basically the embodiment of a trope, particularly a trope that Tollywood seems to currently be in love with as you’ll find this trope in movie after movie after movie – that of the scantily-clad manic pixie girl.

The moral of the story: It’s not enough if a canvas boasts of the biggest names in the industry, the content should be simple and progressive. The only bright spot is the number Love cheyyala voddha. The artistes’ acting is strong and authentic.
