Normal

The problem is that the town is meant to be hiding a dark secret, and it's not as dark as Normal imagines. In fact, for whatever it's worth, the suspense is diluted right at the start when some Yakuzas in Japan kick off the story with chopped fingers and severed heads. Normal certainly is easy if you care little.

The film is a twisted crime caper that makes for a decently entertaining watch.

Normal is a fine showcase for the late-blooming action star, and with the firepower Wheatley keeps shooting Normal manages to exceed those action levels. The audience's reaction at its midnight premiere is any indication it's another hit for this unlikely action star who is fast following in the footsteps of Charles Bronson, Steven Seagal and Bruce Willis.

Odenkirk's performance is sincere and convincing, and he brings humour to the bleak and gory film. Bob Odenkirk stars in yet another film where a normal man unexpectedly turns into a killing machine.

Normal is a blood-slick popcorn actioner that offers the gleeful satisfaction of watching those brainrot puzzle videos on YouTube. There's hardly a moment when Normal takes itself seriously, with every action set piece reveling in a hilariously grisly and macabre sense of cinematic violence.
