If you have an appetite  for blingy blandness served  up with dollops of self-deprecatory tongue-in-cheek humid humour,go for it. But be warned. There  is nothing here  you would want to take  home to sleep over with.

Where the previous films painted the Bellas as scrappy underdogs, here they’re kind of sad sacks who can’t cope with adult life. That’s a real challenge for anyone after college, but fans of the Bellas know they have their friendship to fall back on. In the Pitch Perfect world, that’s what a cappella competitions are all about.

Much like the Hangover sequels, this film tarnishes the memory of the original, and in a dangerous way, in that it makes you loathe the once relatable characters in the film.

Pitch Perfect 3, starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, D J Khaled and John Lithgow among others, is basically a bland, very-occasionally-bubbling-to-the-surface, not-enough-laughs comedy.

Thankfully, the comedy is still strong with this one. Rebel Wilson with her “physical comedy”, Elizabeth Banks through what we hope was sarcasm and sometimes even Anna Kendrick with her crazy ideas about people looking like animals, manage to wring giggles out of you often enough.

It doesn’t really matter if you haven’t seen any of the previous movies in the franchise — you’ll pretty much get the gist in first few scenes itself. Even if you’re a fan of the series and have seen the characters grow over the years, you don’t really find yourself rooting for the Bellas to win the contest.
