Director Vikramjit Singh’s ambitious first film had the potential but end of the day it turns into a tiresome affair. A tad too indulgent and too contrived.

  • ‘Roy’ is a marvelously shot movie, no doubt, and holds immense promise, but never quite sums up into anything of substance.

We only wish it was more about the heist, and less about the heart.

  • At two and a half hours Roy is a slog to sit through with too many unnecessary songs and diversions and not enough meat to either thrill or entertain. If you’re in the mood to watch a ‘film within a film’ and a character crossing over from reel to reality, a better recommendation would be The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project.

  • It’s difficult to pick what is Roy’s greatest achievements. But somewhere near the top of the list is the fact that director Vikramjit Singh has managed to make a film that has two of Bollywood’s most goodlooking heroes, and leave a woman stalking random people’s honeymoon pictures on Facebook mobile. To quote Kapoor in Roy, “Yeh kahani aisay khatam hogi, mein nahin janta tha.”

Roy is a confused film which will confuse the audience more than it would entertain. Despite a hit music score, it will prove to be a flop fare at the box-office.

More style than substance, here the songs have more depth than the script.
