Roy Reviews and Ratings
-
ROY is a film to be watched if you are a fan of thriller movies with some soul-stirring music.
-
What definitely doesn’t work for ‘Roy’ is its self indulgence. The film starts meandering after a point, and the second half is stretched too long testing one’s patience. It is as irritating and boring as a sexy confident woman who ceaselessly takes selfies to repeatedly remind the rest of the world about her beauty. But then there are those glorious songs with melody just right for this sexy, stylish movie that manages to gets your straying attention back to the screen.

‘Roy is an interesting-shaded in pastel colours and a tender timbre the debutant director Vikramjit Singh undertakes an intriguing journey where the real mocks the reel and the creator merges into his creation. But finally the film leaves us with a sense of betrayal and dissatisfaction. Perhaps the director should have attempted the complexities of this theme after making 5 other films.

The film has its fair share of flaws, but that doesn’t overshadow its unique concept and ingenious narrative style. Aided by good performances, catchy music and an impressive debut for writer-director Vikramjit Singh, Roy is a great choice for Valentine’s Day weekend.

… the viewer is often lost in a labyrinth, which is interesting for a while, and onerous thereafter. Despite these flaws, the film is still enjoyable in sporadic bursts for the immersing story, an unconventional lead cast, and the visual flair.
-
If anything, Roy absolutely merits an ambiguous ending, but again, maybe the time has not come to over-decorate a risky concept. The presentation is fine and for now, an idea, in Don Cobb’s words, is the most resilient parasite.
