The Accidental Prime Minister, at its core, stages itself as a relationship of two men beset by palace politics in the world’s largest democracy. If you are moved by this fictionalised version of Dr Manmohan Singh and Sanjaya Baru then you’d have had a good time watching this piece. If not, que sera sera.

Kanithan tries hard to satisfy multiple agendas that telling an interesting story becomes secondary to everything else.

A crisper script and a lighter directorial hand is what are missing here. Alas, it’s a fantasy film without any of the fun and excitement that ought to go with it. You wouldn’t mind a 3-hour film in fantasy genre even today, provided it has the power to keep you glued to the screen. In this case, the 154 minutes seem never-ending.

Verdict: Disappointing!

On the whole, Maari is sure to appeal to die-hard Dhanush fans. For others though, it’s strictly average entertainment.

Kallapadam is a film where everything is enjoyable except for the misfit casting of protagonists and dreary dialogues.

It is undoubtedly one of the worst films of the year in terms of story and production values. If Katham Katham released in early 70’s, it might have been an average venture but now we really feel sorry for the producer.

Meaghamann is another film where the plot is ambitious and paper work is good but falls short in execution. Acting in most parts is acceptable but the film never manages to captivate its audience.

The only silver lining is the camerawork of Bala Bharani and never seen before Kanyakumari district locations, which fit in with the milieu. Suresh Urs could have speeded up the proceedings, as it is too long. One hopes Vijay Sethupathi would be careful on his script selection.

…the biggest problem with Yaan is that there are no twists and the climax is not convincing. The film could have been trimmed by atleast 15 minutes and songs in the second half act as speed breakers.
