…is yet another example why certain films are called great and the rest are just average. A DDLJ is almost impossible to redo. You do not root for the lead actors in HSKD like you did for SRK and Kajol. Yet, this one is a fun one-time watch for sure. Like any honest celebration of our filmy spirit.

Lekar Hum Deewana Dil might appeal to the college going audience. It clearly does not have appeal enough to become popular with anyone else. Arif Ali will have to do much more than this to actually be seen as a serious filmmaker, while people will continue to look at him merely as Imtiaz Ali’s brother.

Bobby Jasoos arrives as a rare clean, fun, mainstream entertainer that an entire family could watch together. What more! It delivers as nice message without being preachy for once. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised. This is one jasoos you might just like seeing more of.

Ek Villain could have been a far superior product. What it becomes is a lackluster thriller. You could watch it for the actors and the drama. Not if you wanted to watch the thriller Ek Villain was promised to be.

Slapstick as a genre is difficult to execute. It is something that many people do not associate with. However there have been enough films in the genre that have left me rolling on the floor laughing. This movie fails to do that. Though it is notches higher an effort from Sajid’s last Himmatwala, Humshakals is not the film that would help him redeem his fate.

It is such an uninspiring piece of job that even a usually fantastic Deepak Dobriyal looks intolerable. Yashpal Sharma is easily the only saving grace in the film. The rest are too caught up in trying to make sense out of the situations than actually put sense into their performance. Plus a shoddy job at the camera and edits – there is no way out for Chal Bhaag.

Fugly disappoints. The first half is still passable but the second half loses way completely. The screenplay could have done better with use of some logic. This a film that the director will have to take the fall for.

Filmistaan is also a step ahead for the film industry. Of course it would have of been better had it managed to make it to the theaters in time to celebrate the centenary celebrations of Indian cinema. But it’s never too late for the good! Jai cine-maa ki! Filmistaan is a movie recommended for one and all!

… fair watch for people who have not seen Thuppakki. For ones who have watched the Tamil film, this Hindi remake would not excite one bit.

To write about CityLights is difficult. It is one film that brings up so many thoughts that I rather shut up that write anything that does not do justice to the film. That’s the impact Hansal Mehta’s direction left on me. This film soaks you in, and refuses to leave you much after you have left the theater. The songs continue to haunt. Recommended must watch!
