• Only the foolhardy would underestimate Bollywood’s ability to do worse, but it is unlikely that you will see another film this unabashedly daft this year. Resist the itch.

  • …is as entertaining and engaging a film as any that Bollywood has delivered this year. Do not miss it.

  • What you leave the hall with is a sense of disappointment. Bombay Velvet has neither the softness of velvet nor the sweep of the city it is an ode to.

Unlike its pugilist protagonist, the film punches well below its weight.

  • A warm, charming and bittersweet family drama, Piku turns the genre completely on its head.

The result is a magnificently original film that delivers a memorably unique movie experience.

  • Clearly, nobody put the makers of this film through the paces. They might have then known how to make the best of their limited cinematic resources and craft something less mucky.

Watch Gabbar Is Back only if you are a diehard Akshay Kumar fan.

  • There can be no denying that Avengers: Age of Ultron is expertly mounted and spiced up with a dash of humour.

But the quality of the ride, in its totality, is uneven. Watch it for the spectacle, not the substance.

  • Do not pass up a sip of Margarita, With A Straw. It could be life-altering. If nothing else, it will soak you with its warmth.

  • The multilingual Court (Marathi, Hindi, English and Gujarati, with subtitles) is an exceptional cinematic achievement: a film that no cinema lover can afford to miss.

  • Dharam Sankat Mein, an official remake of the 2010 British comedy The Infidel, is certainly not half as horrid as the aforementioned monstrosity. But it is not in the OMG league either although that is quite clearly where it aspires to be.

On one count at least, this film should pose no sankat to anybody. It is easy to rate Dharam Sankat Mein: one star for intention, but only half for execution.

  • What you choose to focus on – the sexy siren who apes everybody from Zeenat Aman to Aishwarya Rai or the visual compositions that caress the natural beauty of the locales – will determine what impact Ek Paheli Leela will have on you.

Feel free to have your pick. But to be honest, spare yourself the trouble. Ek Paheli Leela is simply not worth it.
