The writing offers us little depth, and that's where this film, which had the potential to be a humdinger, falls flat. There's so little passion between Sensharma and Rannta that you wonder what made them get together in the first place; what little we see is so chaste as to be non-existent.

Konkona Sen Sharma anchors a tense psychological drama with layered storytelling and nuanced performances.

Accused works very well in parts. In fact, the story and the screenplay build up well until the final resolution, which seems to be hurried! The last 15 minutes confuse this psychological thriller as some social drama! Konkona Sen Sharma's Dr. Geetika highlights some hard truths about the male-female dynamics at work! But most of it narrowly escapes the preachy parameter, and the final act makes the impact of this psychological thriller diminish a bit!

ACCUSED rests on a novel storyline but suffers from inconsistent writing.

Accused deserves credit for daring to step into morally complex terrain. Yet, bold intent alone does not guarantee a satisfying experience. Uneven chemistry and a finale that lacks the sting it promises dilute the impact of what could have been a far more provocative film.

But none of it matters when the craft and storytelling are this shoddy. Accused has the sensibility, pitch, zero-shits-given dubbing and lazy attention to detail of a low-hanging fruit of a JioHotstar show (derogatory). The mystery of what went wrong here—and how the film misfires so marvellously—is more enticing than anything the dull narrative has to offer.
