Beware of mothers breaking bad into gooey marshmallows…

Parenting is indeed a difficult task, and the trouble is that making a film about something so complicated will always have these challenges. It calls for a deeper introspection and understanding of the persona of a mother, and not top of the mind exaggeration of clichéd jokes and situations.

Bad Moms sometimes falters when attempts at mushy sentimentality are made. That being said, as a buddy flick, it delivers the goods, with a good amount of laugh-out-loud moments too.

Mothers from middle class families are the perfect and only target audience for this film. For everyone else there’s a better bad movie called Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot!

The sight gags are funny enough, the writing though is pretty much pedestrian and the exaggerations are obviously not intended to be mean or hurtful to either sex.
So just take it in like it is (mindless entertainer)…if you care!

Though the story may not be the best one you have come across, the characters are quite relatable. It also shows you the essence of true friendship and what it means to be a mother.

You’re not going to want to leave the theatre with a sudden desire to be grateful for all your mother has done for you. Instead, you’ll never want to have children, perhaps forgo marriage altogether and live a life of singledom.

Oh, and resolve to watch better films.

Besides the innumerable sexual references (beeped out profanities and mentions of male and female genitalia), boozing and a smattering of laughs, the film doesn’t push the envelope far enough. No matter how often the moms tell you their children are a joy and how much they love them, they seem to love cheap Chardonnay and single hot Hispanic men more.
