Frozen Reviews and Ratings

Disney’s new animated fairytale Frozen has endearing characters, some good-natured comedy, a bunch of show-stopping musical numbers, and gorgeous visuals. It’s a throwback to the studio’s classic musical adventures from pre-Pixar times, and yet it feels modern because the writing is so fresh and the humor so irreverent.

Inspired by the 19th century fable, “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen, this animated musical may be excessively sweet but it doesn’t induce the fatigue factor at all.

There’s a lovely line that Olaf, the snowman, says in the film – Some people are worth melting for. Likewise, even if you are not too fond of snow, some love stories are worth freezing for! Do not miss out on this magical journey of love and self-discovery.

Imagine the visuals of Tangled meeting the music of The Lion King. Disney returns to top form with Frozen an enchanting tale of magic, sisterhood and mystery set against the icy backdrop of a Nordic kingdom. There is a lovely pace to the story line and an old school vibe to the narrative that has been missing in animation films for a while.

Like a true classic fairytale, “Frozen” has elements of sunshine, fun, romance and tragedy. Being a musical, every element is connected with a number of songs, each better than the other. “Do you want to build a snowman,” is infectious. And your heart does go out to Princess Anna when she sings, “For the first time, in forever” or “Love is an open door”.

There’s plenty of jaw dropping large scale animation, which is not terrible in 3D but will most definitely be better in 2D. This has been a pretty very weak year for CG animation movies and Disney shows them all who the boss is. Watch it on the most gigantic screen that you can find.

‘Frozen’ represents a fine return to form for the Disney animated tales of yore, with enough heart and humour to go along with the lush animation.
