Game Changer

If entertainment and big ticket commercial cinema is what you are seeking, then Shankar won't let you down! However, logic remains suspended through and through, and you are treated with madness, melodrama and the proverbial magic that's so familiar with the territory—the sheer predictability is converted into entertainment.

Game Changer is a well-executed commercial film. Shankar's grand scale and Ram Charan's brilliant performance, combined with strong supporting roles and technical excellence, make it a compelling watch for enthusiasts of the genre.

Game Changer is visually beautiful but lacks emotional depth. While Ram Charan impresses with his performance, the film struggles to deliver a compelling narrative that resonates beyond its mass entertainer appeal.

Perhaps it's the repetition of certain ideas, or perhaps it's the undeniable power of Shankar's hit cinema, but it's impossible not to think of his earlier work

Despite the film blowing hot and cold with an erratic consistency, the Ram Charan-Shankar film is truly held together by consistently good performances. Game Changer is essentially a lot of nice segments that are stitched together in the hope that it would make a good film, but together, they sometimes become incoherent due to the lack of focus. The hangover of Shankar's filmography weighs too much on the film, and even an energetic Ram Charan can only shoulder it for a while.

Shankar keeps betting on his usual socio-political conscience to work wonders like it did with Mudhalvan and Anniyan. However, Ram Charan's Game Changer doesn't live up to its name. That said, Game Changer, at the end of the day, is a dated film that would have probably been fresh a decade back.

Unfortunately, while the movie has its moments, it struggles to deliver a cohesive and engaging narrative.

Director Shankar who disappointed with Indian 2, chose a political theme for Game Changer which fails to offer any novelty. Director Shankar has to give up his old ideas and come back with refreshing story which doesn't have any shade or resemblance to his earlier blockbusters.

Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s film is forgettable but not as awful as Indian 2

Game Changer is an expensive masterclass on electoral politics. Since he created his niche in 1993 with Gentleman, the director's films follow familiar beats that either bring you comfort due to nostalgia or irk you because he doesn't seem to evolve beyond them. Game Changer is a fairly well-made Shankar film that sticks to the tried-and-tested formula.

Is Shankar's first Telugu film fun? Yes, quite a bit. Do the face-offs between Ram Charan and SJ Suryah live up to the hype? Sure, there are clapworthy lines and segments. The bigger question is, beyond the instant gratification, will these segments, or the film, stand the test of time? Game Changer pales in comparison to Shankar's earlier classics, and perhaps it is time for Shankar, once a game changer in mainstream cinema, to reinvent himself.
