A scare-lite sequel to the haunted house horror flick Insidious (2011), the franchise motivated …Chapter 2 fails to translate its paranormal premise into an interesting yarn.

Insidious Chapter 2 is definitely not for the faint-hearted but if you’re a seasoned horror fan — by which I mean, if you have peed your pants after watching Poltergeist at age 4 — then you might as well skip this and watch Sansani.

…is tense and intriguing. If you haven’t seen the previous film, this might work better for you. Also, for the fainthearted, if you analyze your dreams way too much or face sleep disorders, stay away.

With no new tricks to impress us with, Insidious: Chapter 2 isn’t as scary as its previous effort.

Wan clearly has a knack for making horror films, even though the genre has become very predictable he knows how to keep the viewer engrossed. Unlike most gimmicky horror films, he doesn’t scare the viewer every ten minutes but instead, builds up the tension and suspense.

…is a big letdown by director James Wan, who had previously given us Insidious in 2011 and The Conjuring in July. While the earlier films were well-crafted, this one is a far cry from the earlier ones.

There’s this buzz going about that Insidious: Chapter 2 isn’t as scary as it’s predecessor. So, if you’re thinking of walking into a theater, believing that you will be safe as you watch the film, be assured that you’re gearing yourself up for a great surprise.
