• In the end, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana is a warm and fuzzy comedy that benefits from the insider’s eye that the director casts on this garrulous community, and their love of food and family. At 2 hours and 15 minutes, the film feels bloated and over-long, but stay with it and you won’t regret it.

One plate Chicken Khurana coming up. Everyone’s welcome to dig in. Pure vegetarians, hard-core non-veggies and others. Because, this dish is more a slice of life, than a chicken drumstick, really. So bite into it (with a pinch of salt, of course). A decade after fleeing to the Punjus’ very own phoren land, UK, Omi Khurana (Kunal Kapoor) returns home to Lalton village, Punjab, only for selfish reasons.

  • Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana benefits greatly from Sharma’s presence, Amit Trivedi’s enjoyable score and a funny second half. It’s a light-hearted drama that leaves you with a smile, but in the week of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Skyfall, LSTCK is at best a good third choice.

  • It takes a lot to make something as fine and simply enjoyable like Luv ShuvTey Chicken Khurana. Though it takes some time for the flavours to set in and brew, excellent acting and music in the film make it worth the wait.

On the whole, LUV SHUV TEY CHICKEN KHURANA is a joyride from start to end. The film works because the written material, the execution of the subject and the performances complement each other wonderfully. This delectable dish ought to be savoured for certain!

  • While the film is generally feel-good, Sameer Sharma could’ve done a much better job. Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana is a small film that serves up a decent dose of entertainment. It’s like comfort food. Rich in nutrition, easy-to-eat but light on the masala.

  • As the slant in the title suggests, this movie is centered in the North. It gets you the flavor of food, Chicken in particular, and love… a triple dose of it. Actually, love is the underlying factor among all the characters.

Since the basic premise is already known via the films promos, waiting for the ‘what-happens-eventually’ is a tad bit tiring given the run time. Even as we get to the final reels of the film, they aren’t as indulging and as a viewer leaves you mildly disappointed. The makers seem to have unconsciously kept the plot simple and unfortunately didn’t go all out to wow the audiences. While the second half picks up decently, and makes up for in entertainment value, an extra twist would have been a neat cherry on top. Nonetheless, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana is a well put together recipe of standard desi ingredients treated with a slightly different method. Don’t go looking for any secret ingredient to make this one extra-delish and you should be in for a good treat.
