• We live in an age where family-oriented movies are hardly on display and very rarely a selling commodity. But once in a while, there comes out a torch-bearer of a movie that reminds everyone that you do not need a hero with six-pack abs or skimpily-clad heroines to define a winning formula -Papanasam is one such wonder, a complete family entertainer made with loads of passion! Now that’s enough reason not to miss this impressive movie!

  • Indru Netru Naalai once again proves that big stars & high budgets are not required for making an engaging movie. The content is extremely cohesive & the top-notch VFX helps in sustaining the believability of the whole fantasy ride.

  • While the start was heartening to see, with an established director charting up an unusual script for a commercial star & the star going all out with it, we get uncomfortably overloaded towards the end as film sags and leaves little impact because of it trying to handle too many things at a time – much like an aerated soft drink.

  • In spite of losing punch towards the end, Demonte Colony is one those rare films where Thought, Writing & Execution have come together admirably with the ingenious set-pieces & smart technical support proving to be a solid backbone.

  • Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai’ has its moments when the inmates & police officers nonchalantly trade law points at each other and the cat-and-mouse game between the Jailer & the Prisoner with the Hangman playing the innocent foil. However, the engagement factor goes for a toss as the film tries to take on too many issues.

  • In spite of being a little too superficial due to under-developed subplots & supporting cast, films like ‘36 Vayadhinilae’ are a breath of fresh air to Tamizh cinema. It touches the right chords courtesy of a fabulous performance from Jyothika & razor sharp dialogues from Viji.

  • A Kamal Haasan movie is always a curiosity-kindler, and Uthama Villan is again the perfect fodder for the hunger and passion of any cinema fanatic! Touching areas of immortality, this meta-movie featuring late legend K .Balachander is simply the best tribute Kamal could have paid to his mentor and creator for its perfection in making and class in execution – Now that’s more than enough reason not to miss this one of a kind clinical performance!

  • These days it is pretty easy for any movie with a usual plot to be branded as ‘New wine in an old bottle’. But OK Kanmani for many reasons doesn’t fall into that category. When the lead pair takes the screen by storm and you have some real heavyweights wielding the camera and the microphone, you can bet your money on the entertainment that you are bound to receive. Add the heart-warming BGMs and renditions to the mix, romance just went up a notch!!

  • This movie is just another ghost story built on its tested formulaic story with ample humour. While trying to simply reap the success of its predecessor without making an effort to better itself, it ends up serving the same old cold soup which the audience would rather gulp down and get over with it instead of relishing it – Kanchana 2 is not someone who you would want to meet again!
