Shubha Shetty-Saha's Film Reviews
-
The film, however, does make you laugh out loud in parts — at some points, because it is genuinely funny, but mostly in sheer exasperation at the absurdity of it all.
-
No point in reviewing something which is clearly intended to be a video of self propagation. We walked out of the theatre at interval. No, not just because of the assault on our senses, but also because of the stifling atmosphere that was created around us in the theatre.
-
Each actor delivers a competent performance. Though at places it seems to be trying too hard, ‘Meeruthiya Gangsters’ is mostly a delightful comedy which keeps you constantly entertained with its relentless pace and casual approach towards everything, including their ends. Good one time watch, for sure.

Imran Khan is sincere. Kangana has by now proved that she’s a brilliant actress, but here she seems to be faltering a bit as if she is desperately looking for a firm footing in terms of a convincing character. And then she shines in the last ten minutes of the film, yet again leaving us in no doubt about what she is capable of. In fact, the last ten odd minutes of the film keeps you hooked to the screen. But obviously that is not enough at all.
-
The best thing comes at the end. When you see Salman Khan crooning ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’. You wish some of that easy charm had rubbed off on the film.
-
Overall, it’s a fun watch which will keep you snorting and giggling even after you exit the theatre.
-
The climax is worth the ticket money. Watch this film. Flaws aside, it talks of a real concern facing all of us, even while taking a flight of fantasy.
-
Nawazuddin is brilliant as Manjhi. The film is carried solely on his frail but extremely capable shoulders.
Watch it for Nawazuddin’s performance, but more importantly, Dashrath Manjhi’s awe inspiring self belief.
-
his movie starts going consistently downhill from the first scene itself that you start wondering if the makers and the actors themselves gave up on making any sense, even while they were in the process of making it.
-
A background score with lower decibel levels and smarter dialogues might have made this a better film. But still a good one time watch, especially if you are a fight junkie.
