Sonia Chopra's Film Reviews

One wishes our filmmakers quit mythological stories and gave our little viewers more age-appropriate stories that are full of magic and fun. That, or at least interpret the heavy-duty mythology to suit the sensibilities of children. Otherwise all they see is war, revenge and killing without understanding the real learning behind these epic stories!

It is to Kapadia’s credit that the film is watchable, even if intermittently. How you wish this super-talented actress could find a film that exploits her comic timing. The rest of the cast does well, but is let down by the film. Sigh, yes. This is one of those films you reckon the title and concept is far more absorbing than the film itself. What’s the point then?

Filmmakers like Prabhu Dheva aren’t even trying to make good films. It’s a set formula that benefits average filmmakers and audiences that either don’t like being challenged, or don’t have other options.
Avoid, unless you’re stuck in a time-warp.

Watch if a dumbed-down film about senseless revenge and violence fills your heart. Otherwise, strictly avoid.
-
With severely cliched characters, a glaring lack of humour for a rom-com, and a muddled love story that does not hold your interest, the only upside to the film is Kareena Kapoor’s crackerjack performance.
-
For those who want to relive old-school melodrama, and consider themselves as Sunny Deol fans, there are no surprises in store. But then, that’s exactly what you signed up for.
-
Save for Kangna Ranaut’s arresting screen presence and earnestness, this film has nothing going for it.
-
Loud, violent, and utterly lacking in soul…

What you’ll get in the film is lots of Akshay Kumar and a few amusing moments. What you’ll have to endure for that is the entire film. Do the math.

Bhansali’s love story doesn?t move you the way it is intended to. It’s unique, but not necessarily special. That pretty much sums up the film as well.
