The TV series was cheeky, witty, outrageous, over-the-top and entertaining. While the film has dashes of that, yet it feels like a haughty 104-minute-long episode with watered down wit and not enough Ari-isms.

In spite of a juvenile script, the bonding between Bianca and her friends Jess and Casey, her quirky relationship with her mother and the chemistry between Whitman and Amell, draw you in to make The Duff surprisingly enjoyable.

The idea of an emotional drama that looks at the conflict of turning into a zombie is distinctive. However, barring one or two textbook shocks and a few disturbing scenes, Hobson’s narrative moves at such a lethargic pace that it’s unlikely that this zombie terminator will be back.

Those familiar with the book would know what to expect and may be satisfied with Part 1. However, if you have not read the book and base your expectations simply on The Hunger Games and Caching Fire, Mockingjay—Part 1 is dissatisfying.

Visually and technically well-executed, and a tad long, Big Hero 6 is an enjoyable movie event for children, left wide open for the making of a sequel.

The gobbling up of small business by big companies is conveyed by juxtaposing a run-down one-room cable business with a chrome-and-glass high-rise.
