Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 Reviews and Ratings
-
As frenetic and insubstantial as the original 2009 animated fantasy, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 once again blends slapstick comedy with candy-coloured visuals.
-
Delicious in parts, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is definitely worth a watch.
-
If A sequel takes four years coming, chances are it will be more cloudy than meaty. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 lives true to that fear, with a riot of colours for imagination but nothing in either the story or the dialogue to match up to it.
-
It’s got its moments, but I’d say wait for this one to come to DVD.
-
Overall, with a generic villain and robot henchmen and world domination goals, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 is a children-centric film that lacks the punch.

The narration meanders from a clever sophisticatedly created sci-fi setting to a frivolously inconsequential “Jurassic Park” caricature which further converges into an exciting “Avatar” style nature versus machines battle. Overall, with a generic villain and robot henchmen and world domination goals, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” is a children-centric film that lacks the punch.

We’re on a long, long journey with Lord and Miller stumbling with weak establishing shots. The visuals too are at best average and going through a dull middle is another handicap. Though the climax is a saving grace, one isn’t likely to brave it out until then.

The never-ending turn of events is eventually as tiresome as a junk food binge, but the colours, shapes and inventive fruits and vegetables are truly ravishing, and some of them stake their claim to Minion-level cuteness.

While its predecessor had more emotional impact, this second helping of Cloudy… is more adventurous and fun, while losing precious little of the overall charm of the characters and location. With plenty of ‘tasty’ surprises, the umpteen food references make it as much a gustatory delight as it is uplifting.
