Don 2 is a 2011 Indian action crime film directed by Farhan Akhtar and co-written by him along with Ameet Mehta and Amrish Shah. It is a sequel to the 2006 film, Don. The plot of the film continues from the end of the first one, starting in Malaysia and moving to Europe where Don, now the king of the Asian underworld, aims to take over the European drug cartel. The film marks Farhan Akhtar's return to direction after a gap of nearly three years.
Critic Consensus
Critical reception for Don 2 is mixed, with scores ranging widely from 20 to 80 out of 100. The most consistent praise is directed at Shah Rukh Khan's screen presence and the film's action sequences, with several critics citing these as the primary reasons to watch. On the negative side, critics frequently take aim at the script and plot, variously describing it as bland, incoherent, slow-moving, or lacking the energy to sustain the film's runtime. Supporting performances, particularly Priyanka Chopra's, also drew notable criticism.

"'Don 2' needed an energized, crackling plot. What it has, in almost too much abundance, is SRK dripping dimpled coolth. But cool can only take you so far."Read full review ↗
"Don 2 is nicely shot, and there are moments where Shah Rukh Khan is riveting. But that's not enough to hold your interest for well over two hours...even the actor's most loyal fans will find themselves yawning. Although packed with fast cars and bikes, this is one slow ride."Read full review ↗
"All in all Don 2 is a smashing finale to an already interesting line up of films released this year. It's a slickly edited, edge of the seat, cool, sassy and well made product with a gripping plot to boot. Here's hoping they decide to make a third installment as there's definitely potential to explore more of Don's wicked antics, watch him outwit the good guys again and recite his by now (in)famous line 'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi…'"Read full review ↗
"On the whole, Don 2 may not give the discerning audience a great high but it will be loved by those who like style, intrigue, suspense and attitude. It will score at the box-office and yield good profits to Reliance Entertainment (worldwide distributors). The producers, of course, have already made a huge profit by selling the worldwide rights and also by getting heavy subsidy from the German government. Business in big cities and multiplexes will be far better than in smaller towns and single-screen cinemas. The film will work wonders in the Overseas circuit."Read full review ↗
"On the whole, DON 2 rides on star power and brand value. The film has a bland first hour, but the second half takes the film to another level. There's no denying that a cohesive script would've made a world of a difference to the film, but the tremendous hype, star power and the lucrative period [Christmas and New Year celebrations] will make its investors reap a harvest."Read full review ↗
"Don 2 ends with the promise of Don 3 (that's what the number-plate of Don's bike reads) and the trademark dialogue 'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkim hai' (It's not just difficult to catch don, it's impossible). But we would surely want to 'catch' up with a more worthy sequel to this. It's not impossible Farhan. Is it?"Read full review ↗
"Watch Don 2 for some kick-ass action. And Shah Rukh Khan."Read full review ↗
"Watch the film for some awesome action sequences. And watch it for the King. He is truly back."Read full review ↗
"Khan's charming presence aside, Don 2 is packed with uninspired performances by a large supporting cast. First in the line-up is Chopra as Roma, an Interpol officer located in Kuala Lumpur. She is attractive looking, with her big pouting lips, but most of the time Chopra acts like a school girl putting her hands on her forehead in exasperation saying "Damn it," or a character out of an Enid Blyton book, collecting clues to solve the Mystery of the Missing Don!"Read full review ↗
"The King is yet to return. Meanwhile since Hrithik's cameo is the highpoint of the film and the plot does have a few interesting twists."Read full review ↗
"The writers here have sub-plots. They continue to stretch and add thought to thought. The picture promises to never end. It gets hard to carry on with inane inventiveness, when you just couldn't care less."Read full review ↗
"The beginning itself is a bummer. Everyone wants Don dead and the Malaysian cartel where he is king has been given a deal by gang lords in Europe to finish off Don so that they have a network there."Read full review ↗

Just a couple of days more before Xmas dawns upon us & what better way to celebrate than by a total paisa vasool movie. Well, SRK & Farhan Akhtar has promised just that with their latest venture "Don 2". After having enthralled the audience five years back with the remake of "Don", this one promises to be bigger, better & larger. So will the sequel live upto the expectations & help SRK dispel off the negative comments that he garnered for "Ra One"??? The biggest challenge in making the sequel to a blockbuster is undoubtedly the weight of expectations that the team would be carrying. SRK's "Don" was given a lukewarm reception prior to its release as the critics believed that he would struggle against Big B's original. But he proved them wrong as Farhan ensured that it would cater to the taste of the present day audience without being disrespectful to the original. In the sequel, the film unfolds with Don (SRK) taking down the assassins sent by the European drug mafia who fears his power & influence over their Asian operations. At this juncture, Don surrenders to Roma (Priyanka Chopra) & Malik (Om Puri) in Malaysia only to be jailed in the same prison as his foe Vardhan (Boman Irani). Slowly, it becomes evident that Don has a plan up his sleeve behind his surrenderal & helps Vardhan in absconding. So what was Don's plans & can the dreaded foes join hands ever?? Farhan Akhtar after having the luxury of a template in the prequel, comes up with an engrossing & well thought out script. Though the crux of the movie is basically a heist, the elements that went into the execution of the plan was commendable. However, the film isnt without its share of flaws as the first half seems to be devoid of any substance except for the initial couple of sequences. The film gathers tempo in the latter half & culminates in a fantastic climax though many of the sequences inside the bank were too drawn out & dragging. Another major letdown is the music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy while the visuals by Jason West were awesome especially the action sequences & car chases being on par with Hollywood. SRK has always been a maverick when it comes to playing the quintessential lover but he has an almost equivalent panache in essaying negative characters be it in "Darr", "Anjaam" or "Baazigar". As Don, SRK expresses his flamboyance & swagger in such ample measure, which will make the audiences swoon for more. It's an out & out SRK film, with his persona & performance completely overshadowing everyone else. Priyanka doesnt offer much while Boman Irani makes his presence felt in yet another impressive act. Kunal & Lara Dutta plays the supporting fiddle aptly. Hrithik on the back of cinematic liberties does an important cameo as well. Verdict: There is no doubt that the film will have a fantastic opening with various factors working in its favour. With an impressive second half particularly the climax, the film will ensure packed houses for a week or so. In short, it's a sure shot hit. So dont miss it!!! Rating: 3.5/5 Regards...Ben
This movie was beautifully produced for a Bollywood movie. I even suspect that it can be listed with the all time greats such as Mission Impossible. The action sequences are brilliant and not overdone (which is rare for Bollywood). The story is extremely amazing and there are a few twists and turns that I was not expecting at all. The movie is very suspenseful, yet it grabbed my attention. I was in the theater and I don't think that there was one person in there who was not screaming! From Don's entry all the way to the romantic dialogues, this is a much watch film for Bollywood lovers. To keep it short and to the point: SRK was brilliant (as he is most of the time, but the villainous role was brilliantly done), Priyanka was quite good (even though she wasn't in the movie that much), and Boman Irani and the person who played Jabbar were quite good as well. Acting: 9/10, Screenplay: 10/10, Dialogues: 9/10, and overall: 9/10.
saw the special screening of Don 2 in Dubai film festival.Frankly speaking I was stunned by the movie.Simple plot but the twists and turns in the movie were amazing. I will not reveal the plot details because you will loose interest in it.But the story is simple after becoming the underworld king of Asia,Don has targeted European underworld, the film shows the way in which Don fulfills his dream. The movie is at par with Hollywood action movies.Car chase, action, stunts, visuals were awesome.Shahrukh Khan was at his best,he gave a special feeling to the movie. But Boman Irani,Priyanka Chopra,Kunal Kapoor have also done a great job.Nawab Shah was also outstanding, he deserves a special applause. In the end Don 2 is a fine made product with an open ending. It is a must watch this holiday season.Farhan Akhtar has once again proved that he is a fine director. His directing skills are awesome, he should direct more movies.
style. This time entirely abroad. Good one liners, nicely shot actions scenes and an interesting story. Farhan is exceeding expectations every time and creating a brand for his style of making action films. Watching it in 3D was even more convincing. Background score though, seems to be Farhan's favorite since it hears the same as in Don/Lakshya. But like before the slickly shot film goes very well it and has become like fast-paced carol. Watching Don 2 should be definitely on your "to do" list for the holidays. Absolutely pure cinematic entertainment
shahrukh shows his action skills pretty much, long hair looks kills every women
