Resurrection is a super-charged, stylishly packed action thriller that is mechanical and exhaustively perfunctory with a cliched “assassin” tale.

  • The onus is on the stunts (the seen before variety) rather than smarts. Exotic locales and Jessica Alba prettify the experience but routine action, jaded stunt choreography, an irritating background score and typically generic plotting weigh it down woefully!

  • You can survive it for a while, but you’ll never outlive it. Towards the end, the villain finally wakes up to the folly of picking The Mechanic as his adversary (remember The Dark Knight line?), but I wasn’t at all sure why Arthur needed to wait so long to rescue Gina. Then, I looked down and understood. The omniscient Arthur was just giving us time to finish the popcorn.

If you are interested in drama, this is a little bit of it, but it might not be very interesting.

Jason Statham tries hard to stay upbeat with his adrenaline rushing avatar. But somewhere in the middle he gets trapped in bad script and forced action.

  • The plot of this film, as mentioned earlier, is simple enough for a toddler to fathom. But action junkies will get their mainline fix with this one.

  • At the end of the day is this a bad film? Yes. I’ll be fair and give credit where credit is due though.

But if you love the brand that is Jason Statham, I doubt you’re going to pass up the opportunity. Nor should you.
