Critic Consensus
Critical reception for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan was mixed to lukewarm, with most reviewers landing in the average-to-disappointing range. Ali Zafar's natural, charming screen presence was the most consistently noted positive across reviews, while several critics also highlighted the film's music and performances from the lead trio. The most common criticisms centered on a lack of originality, a stretched and predictable narrative, and an over-reliance on familiar rom-com formulas with little freshness or depth. A minority of reviewers found it a wholesome, feel-good entertainer, but the majority felt it was too ordinary to stand out.

"All in all, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan holds out a promise for a pleasant weekend viewing."Read full review ↗
"This is a Yashraj rom com where funny-smart lines are a substitute for good old passion. Don't go looking for any. Don't go looking for any subtle notes, either. There aren't any."Read full review ↗
"Aside from a few enjoyable moments, this film recycles so much that you've already seen before."Read full review ↗
"On the whole, MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN is a delectably wholesome, heartening, feel-good entertainer. Not just a comedy, but also a tender, bittersweet saga, this rom-com is sure to melt your heart, then restore it anew all over again. Yet another winner from Yash Raj!"Read full review ↗
"'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' touches the right chord and doesn't overkill the fun. The screenplay and narrative is tight and crispy and some great performances by Imran, Katrina and Ali are the USP of the film."Read full review ↗
"On the whole, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has reasonable entertainment value, very good music, exciting song picturisations and an impressive start to make it a rewarding experience for all concerned."Read full review ↗
"Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is a pretty ordinary effort. It's the kind of movie where everyone looks catalogue cool and beams with enthusiasm to make the going-ons appear droll and exciting. And though one's a sourpuss for not buying it, I'll take the risk of being one."Read full review ↗
"Mere Brother Ki Dulhan lacks originality and leaves one guessing what it would have been like without the loopholes."Read full review ↗
"The movie is so stretched from both ends, you could see it tearing apart from the centre. The couple's clueless fathers look on like notable 'sideys' in suits. All good things come to an end. Thankfully, that's true for things not so good as well."Read full review ↗
"The only saving grace of MBKD is Ali Zafar, who plays the 'Brother' in the film. The Pakistani actor is amazingly natural on-camera, confident and talented in equal measure, and brings some charm to an otherwise listless film."Read full review ↗

I actually went to watch this movie after reading the HT review. The movie had received just about 2 out of 5 rating. However,I was ready to take the risk and frankly speaking it was worth it! Although the movie revolves around Imran, his co-star Ali Zafar steals the show. Although, it is a simple story, the movie progresses in a beautiful way bit by bit. There is right amount of sense of humour , best displayed by Imran's close friends. The movie is overall very vibrant and engrossings with foot tapping music..Ali Zafar is to watch out for! Imran needs to clearly start 'acting' and Katrina is beautiful as usual but needs to get rid of her British accent for God's sake......
